About this ebook
He sat by the body of the giant he was thinking about the sword and he was thinking that the sword would never leave his side for the rest of his life.
The John was thinking about home and after about ten minutes he got to his feet and walked over to the ring he picked it up and said. ‘And now I must make haste and get you back to my King.
John left to go home.
It took him just four days to return to Camelot.
And when he got to the castle he could see all the people were standing around the castle gates.
John thought that he must be too late.
He went straight to Merlin’s quarters and when he went in he found the Wizard was not there.
He went across the courtyard
And entered the castle keep then he went up to the Kings bedroom.
Outside of the bedroom a crowd of the Kings relations was standing in the passage.
John was still thinking that the King must be dead.
He knocked on the door and a guard opened it and said. ‘No one is to pass by Merlin’s orders.’
‘But tell Merlin its John Rudd you must tell Merlin.’
The guard shut the door on John.

CHAPTER 1
King Arthur who ruled Camelot was sitting in his chambers when a magpie came and landed on his windowsill.
The King was looking through his box of jewels, which he looked at once a year.
He had been sitting for over an hour and wanted to stretch his legs.
As he got to his feet he started to walk around the room?
The magpie flew towards his box it landed on the open lid of the box and looked at the jewels.
Then the bird picked up a ring.
The King saw this and ran towards the bird shouting. ‘No you can’t take that it is Merlin’s ring of magic.’
But the magpie took to the air and flew out of the window with Merlin’s ring hanging from its beak.
King Arthur ran towards the bird but it had gone through the window.
He ran to the window just in time to see the magpie head towards the forest.
The King sat down on his throne he was thinking what Merlin would say.
Merlin had told King Arthur many years ago when he was just a boy that he would have to guard the ring with his life. Because Merlin had said that the ring was there to protect the King and if it got into the wrong hands then Arthur would be doomed.
And the one who sent the magpie is evil beyond belief and that was he knew to be Morpheus the Hermit.
No one knew where Morpheus dwelt he had been a thorn in Merlin’s side for as long as the King could remember.
Merlin had told King Arthur that Morpheus used all kinds of wild animals to do his dirty work.
The King went back to his throne and sat down then he shouted to the guard.
Instantly the door to the Kings quarters was flung open and a guard came running into the room.
The King said. ‘Guard send one of your men and tell him to bring Merlin to me.’
The Guard bowed his head and as he withdrew from the room he said. ‘At once sire.
The guard went down the long passage to the courtyard then he hurried to his men’s quarters he pushed open the door and looked for the youngest of his men and spotted the boy and said.
‘You John Rudd go to Merlin and tell him that King Arthur wants to see him at once.’
John Rudd ran back across the courtyard and knocked on Merlin’s door.
When Merlin came to the door he said. ‘Yes Master Rudd what can I do for you.’
‘It’s his majesty Sir he wishes you to go to him at once.’
‘Oh very well John I will be there in just one minute.’
John said. ‘Excuse me Sir but have you given any thought to my request as your Apprentice I will work very hard for you Sir.’
‘Well now young Rudd how old would you be next your birthday comes.’
‘I will be sixteen Sir.’
‘Well return here in one hour and then I will see if you have the brain to be my apprentice. No in fact you come along with me and mind you be quiet in front of the king, stay behind me out of sight of his majesty, now follow me and don’t daily
