    I’ve written this book after years of using Twitter. I’ve made lots of mistakes along the way and watched other do the same. Sure, there were some successes but, for the most part, I didn’t like the results I was seeing for my time and efforts. There came a time when I was ready to give up on the whole thing. I wasn’t seeing any significant return from the time and energy that was going into using Twitter. It seemed like a colossal waste.

    Then something happened that began to turn my experience around. I decided to give it one more shot and began to experiment with different ways of using Twitter. I asked some of my Twitter connections about their approach to Tweeting. I read anything and everything I could find on how to make Twitter work – how to make it pay off. Over time, a new approach to using Twitter emerged. My purpose in writing this book is to help you learn from my mistakes and to help you avoid them. But more than that, I want to help you get real benefits out of your participation in one of the most useful social media platforms available.

    Twitter is one of the most powerful social media platforms. Or at least it can be. Most people never come close to unlocking the incredible power that it offers.     Rev. Earl Smith became the youngest chaplain ever hired by the California Department of Corrections when he was asked to become the chaplain at San Quentin in 1983. In 2000, Earl was named National Correctional Chaplain of the Year. He currently serves as chaplain for the San Francisco 49ers and the Golden State Warriors. He has appeared on HBO, CNN, The 700 Club, Trinity Broadcasting and the Discovery Channel, and has been featured in Newsweek and Time. He was born and raised in Stockton, California, where he lives today with his wife, Angel, and their children Ebony, Earl Jr., Tamara, and Franklin.
