About this ebook

Just as hyperlinks enhance online texts with additional resources, discussion sites, and information, QR codes enhance print texts with those same online resources. Advertising and marketing companies have been using QR codes for years to connect to consumers via their mobile devices. It's time for education to harness the same power to connect students to information, enrichment, and discussion opportunities.

This book demonstrates how to use QR codes in classroom and school environments to promote quick connections to a variety of materials and resources. No more typing in long, complicated URLs to use an educational resource. Now teachers can post QR codes throughout their classroom to connect students to all class resources quickly.

Offering more than 100 ways to use QR codes in schools, this book is a valuable resource for teachers, librarians, club sponsors, coaches, and administrators. Connect students to the information they need quickly and easily with QR codes and start a QRevolution in your school.

    1. What is a QR code and how do I get one?

This boxy, pixilated image is a QR code, which stands for Quick Response. In the last few years, QR codes have been popping up everywhere in the United States, on everything from posters and restaurant menus to TV advertisements. Basically, a QR code is like a printed hyperlink that accesses information when scanned. By using a QR Reader, you can focus the camera of your cell phone or other mobile device on the code and have instant access to the information it is storing. That information can be a website, YouTube video, or even text. QR codes help you link information with printed text.

In order to scan a QR code, you need a QR Reader. This is a free app that you can download to your mobile device from Google Play or the App Store. There are several apps out there, but app technology changes so quickly that recommendations may become obsolete. Just know
