- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is about love and lost. It pulls at your heart and it makes you want to make everything better. She loved him but then lost him, she was going to have his baby but then she lost him too. She then met a guy that understood her pain and then they fell in love so she went to go live with him and she lived happy ever after with him. This book is so amazing and I think everyone should read this book. It teaches you to be thankful for what you got, because you never relized what you got until it's gone.

Sie arbeitet als Decorateurin und ist eigentlich recht zufrieden mit ihrem Leben. Bei einem Job lernt sie Chris Matthews kennen. Chris ist ein zu groß geratener Junge, lebt gern ungezwungen und nimmt sich stets das, was er will. Und er will Gillian.Sie verleben eine schöne Zeit zusammen. Aber sie kann sich nur schwer an seine Lebensart gewöhnen. Doch er nimmt sie mit seinem Charme immer wieder ein. Als sie schwanger wirt, gerät Chris in Panik. Verantwortung wollte er nie übernehmen.In seiner Bedrängnis schickt er sie nach New York mit einer ungewissen Zukunft, sowohl für sie beide als auch für das Baby. In ihrer Heimatstadt kann Gillian schnell wieder Fuß fassen und findet einen Job. Doch sie vermißt Chris sehr, obwohl er ihr so sehr weh getan hat.An ihrem Arbeitsplatz lernt sie Gordon Harte kennen. Durch Gordon kann sie Chris etwas vergessen und es entwickelt sich eine neue, andere Liebe. Bei ihm fühlt sie sich geborgen, in Sicherheit. Wegen der Arbeit muß Chris schließlich für einen Monat nach New York und quartiert sich prompt bei Gillian ein. Sie ist völlig hin und her gerissen. Er bemerkt jedoch auch, daß sich ein anderer Mann um sie bemüht und mach ihr einen Heiratsantrag. Gordon zieht sich von Gillion zurück und mach ihr somit die Entscheidung leichter.Schnell zieht Gillian wieder nach San Franzisco und beginnt ein neues Leben an der Seite von Chris Matthews. Ihr Herz hatte immer für ihn geschlagen und er überrascht sie mit einem völlig neuen Chris. Doch sie hat leider nicht mehr die Gelegenheit, ihn zu heiraten.Mein Fazit:Dieses Buch hat mich gleich auf der ersten Seite überrascht. Danielle Steel hat in der ungewohnten Ich-Form geschrieben und auch wandte sie die Umgangssprache an. Aber es hat mich nicht so sehr gefesselt wie die anderen Romane. So einige Dinge störten mich einfach, wie z. B. daß Gillian Forrester vorher eine durchschnittliche Amerikanerin war und beim Umzug nach New York sich plötzlich eine Anmietung einer Suite im Regency-Hotel leisten konnte. Auch die Tatsache, daß Gillion Forrester als alleinerziehende Mutter in diesem Roman ihre Tochter viel zu oft allein ließ, störte mich etwas.
