Chapter 1: An unusual meeting
Merryl never would have thought that a country such as the Land of the Pumpkins existed.
But the day she came face to face with a Pumpkinet, all that changed.
It was a beautiful sunny day for 31st of October but Merryl was hardly noticing it. She felt rather gloomy. When she felt like this, she liked to stay in the garden until her mood got better. She was lying on a bed of colorful and crisp leaves listening to the wind when she suddenly heard a rushing sound, followed by a hiss and then something thumped her left arm.
Huh?
Merryl said raising her head in surprise.
Ouch!
said a small voice somewhere in the heap of leaves.
Hiss!
spat a black cat on discovering Merryl.
Merryl got up immediately. The cat was black and made a grumpy face at her. She recognized the cat immediately.
Catface!
Merryl said to the cat. Don’t you look grumpy!
It was Mrs Chrome’s cat. He belonged to her neighbour. This cat always made all sorts of grumpy faces. But today Merryl thought he was making the grumpiest faces ever.
