    Introduction

It was found amongst the students that use of calculator made them to shy away from doing sums by use of their mental calculations. Tables are rarely learnt, thus they are at a loss when simple calculations of multiplications or divisions were given to them. And when the number of digits is increased, they just scratch their head.

Old procedures of calculations, better known as Vedic Mathematics are there to help them out.

I just try to give them a few tricks from Vedic Mathematics to do their sums with ease. Hope it will be useful to them and will be appreciated.

My earlier book in Bengali is now also modified. This book is written for English reading people.

Every number expressed has a seed number of single digit. This is obtained by adding all of the digits used to write the number. As an example, seed number of 3756 is 3 + 7 + 5 + 6 = 21 = 2 +1 =3: and seed number of 4509238 is 4+5+0+9+2+3+8= 31=3+1=4. Please note that the seed number is always expressed in single digit.

The seed number can also be found out, when the main number is divided by 9 and the remainder is obtained.. For example seed number of 71 is 7+1=8 and 71 when divided by 9 give a remainder of 8.

The digital root can also be found out by deleting any 9 coming during the addition of the
