    CHAPTER 1

Josephine walked over to the refreshments table and picked up a glass of champagne. She smiled at the waiter as she took her glass. She walked over to Jay and Jonathan. She looked around and spotted the most gorgeous man she had ever seen. He had sandy brown hair that was neatly cut. He wore a casual suit which fit him properly. She admired his features from the side as he turned slightly. His features were stunning. Josephine watched as he chatted. He was chatting to a man and woman. They all chuckled as they chatted.

Josephine looked at Jay. She spoke softly.

    Who is he? Jonathan smiled.

Who? Josephine discreetly pointed over at Craig. Jonathan chuckled.

Craig Jones. He owns ‘Craig’s Load’. An I.T. company. Comes highly recommended. Josephine nodded.

    Nice. Jay chuckled.

Nice? Never seen you look before. Josephine nodded.

Well, I can’t help myself. It’s not often that I get to see something so yummy. They all chuckled. Josephine looked over at Craig. He had turned to look at the threesome. He smiled as his eyes met Josephine’s. Josephine quickly looked down.

Jonathan, he looked at me. I think I am blushing. Jay chuckled.

Yes, you are. A deep pink. Oh look, you are going red. Josephine gurgled with laughter.

    Stop it Jay!

Josephine turned and looked up at Jonathan.

I feel like a teenager. Do you believe in love at first sight? Both Jonathan and Jay chuckled. They both shook their heads. Josephine took another look at Craig. She whispered.

    Is he married? Jonathan smiled.

No. Confirmed bachelor. Josephine looked Craig up and down.

    By choice? Jonathan chuckled.

I don’t think so. He doesn’t socialize. Pretty much like you. Obsessed with that business of his. Josephine nodded.

    Are you sure? Jonathan nodded.

Sure. Josephine beamed. She chuckled. As she chuckled Craig looked up. Their eyes locked again. Josephine quickly looked away.

    Craig stared. He spoke quietly.

    Who is she? Carly chuckled.

    I don’t know. Honestly.

She is absolutely beautiful. I have never seen anyone like that. The hostess of the cocktail function walked over to Craig, Fred and Carly. Craig smiled.

Mrs.. Hewitt. She nodded. Craig spoke quietly.

Put me out of my misery. Who is she? Mrs. Hewitt smiled. She stood with her champagne glass in her hand and lifted it to her lips.

That, my boy, is Josephine St Claire. Craig nodded. He didn’t recognize the name.

Is she married? Is one of those men her husband? Mrs. Hewitt chuckled.

No. She is as free as a bird. Doesn’t have a beau. Engrossed with her company. Never seen her with a date. Craig smiled.

What company? Mrs. Hewitt rolled her eyes.

Craig you have to get out more often. Google her. They all nodded. Fred roared with laughter.

How old is she? Mrs. Hewitt chuckled.

    "Why, Craig, are you interested?

    Maybe. Mrs. Hewitt smiled.

I can always arrange a date for you. Craig chuckled. Mrs. Hewitt walked off smiling. Fred chuckled.

Why Craig I think you are smitten. Craig smiled. He couldn’t take his eyes off of Josephine. He spoke quietly.

Just look at her. I have fallen in love. Carly rolled her eyes. She looked at Craig.

I think I believe you. Craig nodded his head and smiled.

Mrs. Hewitt walked over to Josephine, Jay and Jonathan. She gave Josephine a little hug. Josephine smiled. Mrs. Hewitt whispered.

Josephine, have you met Craig yet? Josephine shook her head.

No. And don’t even dare. I have heart palpitations just looking at him. He is such a hunk. Don’t tempt me. Mrs. Hewitt roared with laughter. Both Josephine and Mrs. Hewitt looked over at Craig. He looked over at Josephine and smiled. Josephine blushed. She whispered.

I feel sixteen all over again. Mrs. Hewitt chuckled as she left Josephine, Jay and Jonathan. Jonathan chuckled.

You will have to do a little Googling this evening. Josephine chuckled. She looked down at her watch.

Oh heck, I have to go. I have to finish that project this evening. Jonathan chuckled.

You are going to have to learn to prioritize. Josephine chuckled and nodded. She kissed Jay and Jonathan on the cheek.

Gotta run. They both nodded and smiled.

    Craig stood and stared.

    She’s leaving. Carly nodded.

Fred, get that camera ready. Fred chuckled. Josephine looked over at Craig and nodded and smiled as she left. He beamed. Josephine walked up the stairs to leave. Fred aimed his camera. He took a few photographs. As she reached the top of the stairs Jonathan called out to Josephine. She turned and beamed, almost laughing. Fred took a few snapshots. He took the most beautiful photograph of her as she turned. She looked over her shoulder and looked straight at Fred. Josephine chuckled as she walked out.

Jonathan stood and chatted to Jay.

I think she has fallen for him. When last did you hear her asking about a man? Jay chuckled. He thought for a few seconds. He mulled over the question.

    How about never. Jonathan chuckled.

    My point exactly.

Craig looked at Fred and Carly. He chuckled.

I’ll download those for you. Fred chuckled.

What was the camera for? Fred chuckled.

It was with my cell phone. Don’t ask me why I picked it up. Craig grinned. He took the camera from Fred.

So glad you did. Carly chuckled.

She is beautiful. But I think she is pretty young. Doesn’t look old. Look around. These people are all a little older looking. Craig chuckled.

    True. He smiled.

It’s called networking. Fred nodded. Craig smiled.

I wonder why she left? Mrs. Hewitt drifted by and stopped.

Craig Jones. Always asking questions. Craig smiled and nodded.

She had to leave early. That young lady sets herself such strict deadlines. She has a project that has to be finished by tomorrow. She told me she would have to leave by nine. But, for her to leave half an hour later must mean she was really enjoying the evening. Craig smiled and nodded. Mrs. Hewitt nodded and winked at Craig.

Might be the young man she was asking about. Craig smiled.

She was asking about me? Mrs. Hewitt chuckled.

Interrogation would be more appropriate. Craig beamed.

    Really? Mrs. Hewitt nodded.

    Craig smiled.

What does she do for a living? Mrs. Hewitt chuckled.

I am not going to spoil your fun. Go Google. Look up St Claire’s, or St Interior." Mrs. Hewitt walked off chuckling. Carly smiled.

Isn’t that a magazine? Craig smiled.

Remember that day I brought that magazine home and we revamped the lounge. Wasn’t that magazine St Interior? Fred nodded.

Maybe she works for the company? Fred nodded.

I don’t think so. She doesn’t seem that type. Craig smiled.

What type does she look like? Fred chuckled.

Not a working girl. Maybe she runs her own company. Carly chuckled and pointed at Craig.

Go Google. Craig chuckled. He looked over at Jonathan and Jay. They both looked at Craig, smiled, and nodded. Craig nodded back.

Those two men were with her the whole evening. Why do you think they smiled and greeted me? Fred chuckled.

Because they heard her side of the questioning. Craig chuckled. They all left at the same time. Craig smiled.

Thanks guys, for joining me. Carly smiled.

Any time. Fred chuckled as they all walked out.

Craig headed home. He sat and downloaded the photographs that Fred had taken. He looked at them all. There were about ten of them. He smiled.

Wow! He looked at the last photograph and beamed.

Wow. Oh Josephine. Who are you really? Craig smiled as he saved the photographs on his laptop.

Craig sat and linked on to the Internet. He typed in ‘St Interior’. He looked as the latest St Interior magazine appeared on the screen. He searched for the names of the editors and staff. He went through the list. Josephine’s name didn’t feature. He chuckled as he searched. He typed in ‘St Claire’. Craig sat as he looked. There was a list of St Claire’s as long as his arm. He searched for ‘Josephine St Claire." One entry came up. He read through the entry.

Interior Decorator. Owner of St Claire’s and St Interior Magazine. Craig chuckled. He typed in ‘St Claire’s’. A web site opened. He chuckled.

Wow. He smiled as he looked. It was a very professional web site. It had a display of many different interiors. He looked at the list on the left. It was a list of her clientele.

He smiled as he saw Mrs. Hewitt listed. He clicked on the name. He chuckled as he looked at a photograph of the venue where he had just been. He clicked on a few pages. The designs were awesome. Craig chuckled.

So Miss Josephine St Clair, you are an Interior Decorator. He smiled. Craig looked at his watch. It was almost midnight. He smiled as he kept looking. He marked the website as a favorite. He shut the website down. He took another look at the photographs. He printed the last photograph. He looked around at his lounge and chuckled.

Oh Miss St Claire, you are going to make my lounge come alive. Craig smiled as he powered down his laptop. He headed over to bed with a smile on his face.

Josephine lay in bed. She beamed and spoke out aloud.

Oh if only. If only I had someone like that. Craig Jones. What a dish. Josephine smiled as she went to sleep.

Josephine stepped in to her office on Friday morning. She walked straight over to her desk and powered up her laptop. She did a Google search on Craig Jones. She smiled as his company credentials came up. She looked at his photograph and smiled. He was drop dead gorgeous. Gwen walked in to Josephine’s office and looked over her shoulder.

    Nice. Josephine chuckled.

He is awesome. Better looking than his photograph. Josephine chuckled. She zoomed in to the photograph and printed an A4 copy. Gwen chuckled.

Where are you going to put it? Josephine smiled.

Watch. Josephine took out some tick-tack. Gwen chuckled.

    Where? Josephine smiled.

Watch. Josephine put the little balls of tick-tack on each corner and one on each side. She slipped out of her shoes and climbed on to her desk. She reached for the ceiling and stuck the picture to the ceiling. She beamed.

Right there. So that I can look up and imagine. Gwen roared with laughter.

He’s on top of you. Josephine chuckled and blushed.

Now that’s a good place to be. They both roared with laughter. Josephine frowned.

How am I supposed to meet him? I have seen him, once only. Gwen smiled.

You might meet him at another cocktail party. Josephine grimaced.

That was the first time ever. Gwen smiled.

Keep the faith. Josephine nodded and smiled.

Craig sat in his office as he loaded his favorite photograph of Josephine onto his flash drive. He smiled as he took it in his hand. He walked out of his offices, chuckling to himself. He walked over to a print shop. He smiled as he walked over to the counter. He handed the young man his flash drive.

I would like a photograph printed out as a poster. The young man smiled.

How big do you want this poster? Craig smiled.

As big as you can. The young man beamed.

Glossy? Craig nodded. The young man took the flash drive. Craig smiled.

    I’ll wait.

Do you want to come and watch? Craig chuckled and nodded. He stepped behind the counter. The young man put the flash drive in and opened the photograph.

Wow. Who is she? Craig chuckled.

She is the inspiration to my décor. The young man chuckled. Craig grinned. He watched as the young man sent the instruction through for the poster to print. They waited for ten minutes. He rolled the poster up gently and popped it into a cardboard cylinder. He handed it to Craig with his flash drive. Craig grinned as he paid for his poster. Craig pocketed his flash drive and wallet in his pocket. He headed out, back to his office.

    CHAPTER 2

Seven months went by. Josephine attended a few cocktail functions. Craig was never to be seen. Josephine always looked around to see if Craig would be attending. He never did. Her heart sank. How would she ever get to meet Craig if he never socialized. Every day Josephine looked up and greeted Craig. The photograph always brought a smile to her face. The only person who had seen it on the ceiling was Gwen.

Josephine sat at her desk. She groaned. Her interior decorators were all hard at work, but their designs crossed over. They all designed from scratch. If the files were all in one place it would save them all a lot of time. Josephine smiled as she considered the options. She picked up the telephone directory and searched for ‘Craig’s Load’ in the yellow pages. She spoke to herself.

If you are not interested, I certainly am. But, I know you are. I saw it in your eyes. Maybe this is my lucky day. Josephine looked up and smiled at the photograph on her ceiling.

She smiled as she dialed the number. A receptionist answered the phone. Josephine stammered. She coughed and cleared her throat.

Sorry. Hi, this is Josephine St Claire. Could you have one of your technicians come and see me please. I need a little help with my computer system. The receptionist spoke over the phone.

What seems to be the problem Miss St Claire? Josephine groaned.

We are a company of Interior Decorators. Each interior decorator designs a layout, but they save everything in their own files. I need everything to be saved in the same place, automatically. There’s far too much duplication. The receptionist chuckled.

I see your point. Miss St Claire, I can schedule you in for a week today. Josephine groaned.

What day, what time? The receptionist chuckled.

Is it really that bad? Josephine chuckled.

    It’s worse.

I’ll see what I can do. I’ll give you a call.

Thank you. Josephine put down the phone. She sighed.

I’ve heard that line before. Josephine put her forehead on her hand and shook her head.

Craig walked through to reception. His receptionist beamed.

Mister Jones, a Miss St Claire just called to see one of our technicians. She’s desperate. The soonest I can help is a week today. I think she said St Claire’s. You know, the interior decorators. Craig chuckled.

Set something up for Friday. I’ll handle it. The young receptionist chuckled.

But you don’t do that anymore. Craig chuckled.

For Miss St Claire I will make an exception. The receptionist
