About this ebook
Dear Author,
Even with the repeal of DADT, it is not commonly known that I am gay. Living on an aircraft carrier, surrounded by so many men in such close quarters, I worry that if my sexuality is known, most of them will subscribe to the narrow thinking that I am attracted to all of them. But there is one who has caught my eye and driven my senses into overload. The problem is that he is a fellow pilot. I don't want to cause any issues in our working environment, and I don't even know if he is gay, but I am drawn to him and cannot stop thinking about him. What I wouldn't give for a stolen night together, but I long for even more than that because I am attracted to his personality, sense of humor, and strength of character as much as I am attracted to his physicality.
And then one day, his co-pilot gets sick, and I am told to fly with him. Will this time together possibly lead to something? I can't help but hope that it does.
This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love Has No Boundaries" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.
T.A. Webb
T.A. Webb is the writing name for the Mean Old Bear That Could. By day, he's the director of finance for a non-profit agency. He's worked with people living with HIV/AIDS and with children in the foster care system for over twenty years, and takes the smaller pay for the chance to make a difference for those who can't help themselves. After hours, he's the proud single papa of four rescue dogs, was born and raised in Atlanta, where he still lives, and is a pretty darned good country cook. His sister taught him to read when he was four, and he tore his way through the local library over the next few years. Always wanting more, he snuck a copy of The Exorcist under his parents' house to read when he was eleven and scared the bejesus out of himself. Thus began a love affair with books that skirt the edge, and when he discovered gay literature, he was hooked for life. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Davey and Chuck, both Navy pilots, are very special men. Both hide their sexual preference, even after the repeal of DADT, for various reasons. Mostly because it's easier, they think, and because neither of them sees a reason to come out. That all changes when they meet.
The sexual tension between them start when they first look at each other, and rises steadily over the next two months, until it reaches explosive levels. With nowhere else to go, they finally talk and confirm their mutual interest. What follows is a great first date, and some intense activity in the bedroom. As for the ending? As a card-carrying romantic, I totally loved it!
If you like sweet stories about men who fall for each other yet remain level-headed and professional enough to keep their heads in the game, if you enjoy reading about well-muscled men in uniform, and if you;re looking for a hot, sweet read, then you will probably like this free short story. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I am such a sucker for military boys and for T.A. Webb, this one was kind of a no brainer going in. Of course I loved every word! It should be a no brainer for every M/M romance fan too. Just read it and let the happy endorphins wash over you in the epilogue. *happy sigh*
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed this story, but for some reason, it wasn't one that really wow-ed me. It's one where the relationship just seemed to be so completely rushed from meeting and lust to head-over-heels love without there even being much interaction to support the change. Insta-love needs more than just a 'here they are' setup for me to really get into it and I just didn't get a strong sense of that here.
But the interactions that do happen between the main characters are sweet, charming, and steamy enough to still make this a 3-star read.
