Holy How? Holiness, the Sabbath, Communion and Baptism - Ben R Peters
Preface
WHAT CAN BE SAID about Holiness, the Sabbath, Communion and Baptism that hasn’t been said before in sermons, books and theological debates? Who do I think I am to have anything to add to these subjects when so many esteemed theologians and biblical scholars have devoted their brilliant minds to examine these important doctrines?
While I do have a good background in the Scriptures, the ideas put forward in this book are not based entirely on Biblical scholarship, per se.Rather they emanate from a combination of a life in the Word, an awareness that God hasn’t finished with the Reformation or Restoration of His church, and specific times of special insights when God chooses to download tidbits of truth that suddenly makes sense of things that never made sense before.
So to be very clear, I don’t claim to be the final authority or even the most scholarly expert on these subjects. I do, however, claim to be privileged, as a child of the King of Kings, to have special access to inside information, hanging out with the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, in the courts of the Most High God. It’s in those special times of hanging out together, that insights, revelation and wisdom flow into my spirit, and I get very excited about God’s amazing ways. I’m sure you’ve experienced those special times as well. We all have the same opportunity to come boldly into His Throne Room.
This book is designed to help the church of Jesus Christ to blow away more of the Medieval dust that still clouds our minds with Dark Ages thinking. It’s designed to get you updated and upgraded by the Holy Spirit of God, Who inspired both the Reformation and the Restoration of all things that were lost in those Dark Ages. They were not called the Dark Ages by chance. The light of the good news (the gospel) had almost gone out in Medieval times. Today, the light is growing stronger and stronger and more and more darkness is being overpowered by the light of the Spirit of Restoration.
I trust the revelation of God’s love unveiled in the doctrines discussed in this book will thrill you as much as they have thrilled me. It is my privilege to share my joy with you as Jesus delights in sharing His joy with all of us.
May God open your heart and mind and transform your life, as you meditate on the following revolutionary ideas with me.

Escaping the Shadows of the Shroud
YOU ARE NOT HOLY. You need to be quiet. This is a holy place.
The lady speaking happened to be a Catholic nun from an Asian country. The holy place
happened to be the Upper Room in Jerusalem, where it is believed that Jesus shared His Last Supper with the twelve disciples, and where The Holy Spirit was poured out on the one hundred and twenty followers of the risen Lord.
It was just a few years ago. I was blessed to be a part of a very wonderful experience in the land of Israel. There were exactly thirty-seven of us, just as God had spoken to one of our leaders, Lisa Bourland, of Henderson, Kentucky. Supresa Sithole, a Mozambiquan leader of Iris Ministries, under Heidi and Rolland Baker, had prophesied that thirty-seven prayer warriors would meet in the prayer room that Lisa had visited and prophesy to the dry bones of the House of Israel, as recorded in Ezekiel 37.
You see, on an incredible journey of obedience to the voice of the Holy Spirit, Lisa had gone to Israel and walked through every open door that God gave her. Through miraculous and divine encounters, she was taken to an old and long-neglected prayer room in the basement of the YMCA Hotel in Jerusalem.
Given permission to linger and pray there, she heard The Lord say, Lisa, count the chairs in this room.
Lisa obeyed. There were thirty-seven chairs.
Again, she heard God say, Lisa, count the chairs again.
Thinking she may have counted wrong, she counted again. There were still thirty-seven chairs.
Not attaching any significance to that number, she communicated with Supresa, who had given her the original word to go to Israel for a gift that God had waiting for her there.
Hearing the above account, Supresa replied with his unique accent: Sista, it’s Ezekiel thahty-seven. You will bring thahty-seven prophetic prayer warriors, who will prophesy to the dry bones of the house of Israel in that room.
It happened without any human manipulation. Lisa Bourland shared the story in several groups of people. Some committed to come, but later backed out. Others decided to come at the last minute. The last to arrive was a flight attendant who was flying on standby. There were no seats available that week, but suddenly a seat opened up to her and when we counted heads in Jerusalem, at the end of the day on the day we arrived, the count came to exactly thirty-seven.
We prayed and prophesied throughout the nights in two-hour shifts, both in the prayer room and in the watch tower overlooking much of the city. During the daytime, we toured the famous sites in the city, until we came to the place, which is believed to be the very site of the biblical upper room.
This was where we got in trouble with the precious little nun and her companions. You see, we were feeling the presence of the same Holy Spirit that visited the one hundred, twenty disciples about two thousand years ago. We weren’t being really wild or crazy. We were just worshipping out loud, some in an unknown language, while a few of us were laying on the floor or walking around with our hands in the air and God’s praises in our mouths.
It was obvious that the nun’s definition of holiness was sober silence. Of course, we didn’t argue theology, or discuss what happened in that place on the Day of Pentecost. Instead, we graciously moved on so they could occupy the space and be properly holy
.
The experience left us feeling sorry for the millions of people still living in the shadows of the Dark Ages. How we desire that God will reveal Himself to them and set them free from the bondage of relationless religion.
Shadows of the Shroud
The shadows of the shroud of the Dark Ages still linger over the church in the twenty-first century. They still cloud our vision and permeate our religious concepts. There are very few religious notions more affected by this than the notion that holiness is a heavy and somber assignment, given to those who would try to please a powerful and vengeful God. Those who
