About this ebook

From the Publisher that brought you popular adult short story series Hostile Hearts, Earthbound Angels, The January Morrison Psychic Files, Eve Snow Psychic P.I., Ralph's Gift, and Friend Zone. Now, here is Beautiful Magick...

A TALENTED WITCH...
A GIFTED BILLIONAIRE...
AND A DESTINY WAITING TO HAPPEN

Elena Ravensworth is a rebel. She is a half-blood – half Magickal and half Human, but is raised by a human lawyer who is champion of the underdogs, and she doesn’t think siding with Magickals from her mother’s line will make any difference. They already are better off because they have powers.

Albert Morgan is a billionaire, a businessman with a Midas touch. He has never lost a bet, and has never made a wrong decision about where to place his money. His reputation has made him notorious among his peers, and the pressure, together with his growing restlessness to know what he really is and why he just knows where luck will hold, has driven him to hide in his mansion in the outskirts of Louisiana.

When Elena is just two days shy of her twenty-second birthday, she is asked – well, more like commanded – to search for a rogue wizard who has been orphaned since birth and who doesn’t know he is a Magickal at all. Elena’s gift is sensing magick in people, and among humans, so the elders in the Council of Magickal Beings are confident she can easily find this Albert Morgan.

What will Albert do when the woman in his dreams finally appears on his doorstep one stormy night, carrying with her more than all the answers to his questions? And what will Elena do when she finds out who Albert really is?

EXCERPT
ELENA WAS LOOKING appalled. Curiously, she also looked incensed. “That can’t be,” she said. “They wouldn’t dare...”

They... what? “Well, it is,” he said with sympathy in his voice. Whoever they were, he might know later. Or not. He did not care as long as she would be staying longer.

It was obvious by the way that she was rushing to go back to her hotel that she had no design whatsoever of seducing him. If it was anyone else, this opportunity to stay would be greatly exploited. But she wasn’t any other woman that he knew, he realized that now. She was really here on business and not his charm or his obvious wealth would not stray her from the path.

But there was no rule against him trying to seduce her, was there?

“I’m afraid that you’re not going to make it back to New Orleans tonight. That road you came in on is now flooded and they’re not going to let traffic through there tonight.”

She looked like she was already thinking this. “But where can I stay?” she asked him wildly.

Albert blinked. “As you can see, though, I’ve got plenty of space here. I’d be pleased to have you as my guest.”

Elena frowned. “I really don’t want to impose myself on you much longer, Albert.”

What? Really, no Plan B a.k.a. seduction? Albert was surprised to find himself really disappointed.

Sandra Ross

The moment Sandra Ross held her first romance novel when she was ten, she knew she was going to write romance. At thirty now, a prolific reader and a freelance writer, she's since then expanded her preferences from just romance to romance with a dash of now trending sub-genres—paranormal , fantasy, sci-fi even, and erotica. She loves challenging herself and would write on a dare. On a normal day, she would be found in her herb garden collecting spices for her kitchen or ingredients for her potions; in her huge eclectic Provencal kitchen with the big modern oven cooking pots and pans of food for her family of one husband and three kids (an ardent daughter and two boisterous sons) that'll probably last for weeks; in her library with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and an e-reader in her hands as she reads the latest erotic hit; or scribbling pages upon pages of different erotic lifestyles, searching for the one that feels like it was inspired by just the right mix of passion, story line, and sex. Aside from these activities, the rest of the time she'd be found in front of her laptop typing the latest Sandra Ross concoction for her readers.

This Should Never Have Reached Publication in this State!

I tried to read this book, I was even excited by this fluffy, yet supernatural storyline. It was just what I was looking for right now, but it is so poorly written! The grammatical errors (using the term broadly) are too frequent and too significant to ignore. Not only are there many awkwardly written sentences, punctuation errors, but the tense changes constantly.

All this in only part of the first chapter.

Not to mention the deeper issues the author has simply with the act of creating characters, a story, a world, etc.

I would highly recommend that this title either be properly edited (honestly, I don't think this would get a passing grade in my AP Lit and Comp class back in high school a thousand years ago) as a published work should be. It is a disgrace that just because putting a work out digitally is so cheap that absolute rubbish can get put out there.

Who knows, with proper editorial guidance, or at least a basic editing class and a friend to read it over, this could be a great story. However, it is impossible to get past the painful number of errors to even see if there is anything of value.

Chapter One

WILL YOU BE at home for dinner tonight, Elena? Davis asked his daughter over breakfast.

Elena was reading the morning newspaper as she ate her pink grapefruit and bagel with cream cheese. She and her father generally made it a habit to eat breakfast together as often as possible, considering their busy schedules and their workaholic lives.

Glancing up at him, she saw a very attractive man even though he had crossed over into his fifties. Coupled with his innate grace, he looked very handsome. She did not get her looks from him but from her mother, but she suspected she was more in character with him than with her. She would like to think she would age as solid and as strong as her father in time.

Smiling, she shook her head. I'm afraid not, Dad, she said. I've got a business dinner tonight and I'm not sure how late it will run. Since taking over as senior editor of the publishing company she worked for, her schedule had become crammed quite often.

She was meeting a new writer tonight, someone her publisher had been trying to convince to come on board her company for a long time now. This wasn't something she would normally do, but this writer had specifically asked for her. It puzzled her a little but she did not really mind, since it was a work-related errand.

‘they're really keeping you busy lately, her father observed as he ate his omelet. He was acting casually but she could see worry on his face. You know you don't have to work, Elena. Your trust fund is there any time you need to use it."

I know, Dad, she replied with a sigh. "But I enjoy what I do. It's not like work at all. Work is something I do because I have to. This is what I like doing regardless."

Well, I guess that just runs in the genes, he reluctantly replied.

They both laughed. Davis also enjoyed his work. He was very dedicated to running his high profile law firm, even though he never needed to work another day in his life. Nowadays he busied himself with pro bono cases, using his age as an excuse, and let the younger ones take care of the high profile ones but with him to consult any time they needed it.

He was disappointed when she did not study Law. He had been looking forward to welcoming her into his firm and making her a partner eventually. But legal stuff bored Elena to death and she knew she did not have the motivation to make it through law school.

Eventually, her father accepted her decision and supported her career in the publishing business. It was only out of respect for his daughter's principles that he did not try to finance a publishing house for her until she said she was ready. He knew she would eventually gravitate towards that, though. His daughter was someone who could not breathe without planning goals, and he knew she would be somebody someday in her own chosen field. So he would, of course, enthusiastically support her when that time comes.

Have you heard from your mother lately? Davis asked, changing the topic, and in a carefully casual tone.

Not for a little while, Elena answered as she tried to hide a smile. Why do you ask?

Well, your birthday is coming up soon. I just thought Julianna will call you. She usually likes to spend your birthday with you.

That was true. Her mother would spend a part of the day with her, while her Dad would treat her to an expensive dinner or a memorable evening in a concert, a ballet, or theater play. When she was young, it was the cinema complete with hot popcorn with honey and the occasional soda. But now, it was usually the theater.
