About this ebook

Acrostics are word puzzles in which the word itself is broken down and used to form other descriptive words around an idea. The word becomes rounded out and elaborated upon, embroidered into a beautiful pattern of ideas. IDEA becomes Image Defining Each Acrostic.

Message in a Word 2 contains 52 devotionals, one for each week of a year. Each devotional is based on an acrostic—a message in a word. Each thought provoking devotional is filled with Scripture quotes and Biblical truth. The Reflections at the end of each devotional includes additional Scripture passages for further study along with questions and a prayer. Read and do the exercises, then meditate and reflect upon the message for a week.

You will be inspired and blessed as you deepen your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Message in a Word 2 - Margaret Blincoe

    Foreword

Margaret has an unusual attraction to information, knowledge, and instruction. Her insatiable desire has been the motivation for Message in A Word I and now her second contribution to the word of words and literature. In her second work, she has given resources conducive for invaluable quotes and wisdom tips any avid reader or conscientious writer would appreciate. She demonstrates this in her second offering of wisdom-based statements and acrostics. She is witty, prolific, and generous in her sharing. She shows that this vault of God opened to her can be endless. She takes full advantage of revelation, anointing, and a unique grace in putting forth both the quantity and quality of these acrostics.

What Margaret does might not reach audiences in this particular segment of time, but her messages will be bell ringers for generations following us. James Thurber, author and cartoonist, wrote: Precision of communication is important, more important than ever, in our era of hair trigger balances, when a false or misunderstood word may create as much disaster as a sudden thoughtless act.

In her desire to communicate and assist teachers, ministers, and others who speak publicly to have a tool where they can speak precisely using as few words as possible, Margaret contributes as much to the verbal word as television has the visual word. She has, by inspiration, developed a meticulous style of communicating truths and concepts IN A WORD!

It is with a great deal of excitement that I recommend this work of art for your reading and your reference.

To my family and friends and to everyone who has contributed to the writing of this book, for I am incapable of what it takes to make this a book on my own. Thank you for encouraging and supporting me throughout this whole process. I appreciate you so much. You have listened, been patient, and along with me, waited in anticipation for the manifestation of yet another baby.

To my brother John and my sister-in-love Martha, I am so blessed to have you as not only as my brother and sister, but also as my friends. Thank you for co-laboring with me in the birthing process.

    Introduction

Andrew Murray in his book Living to Please God states:

The goal of a good teacher is to stimulate the mind of the pupil to action. When a pupil is awakened to realize his powers and led to taste the joy of victory over apparently insurmountable difficulties, he has been given the key to discover truths for himself. No one can do us a greater favor than stimulating our desire to seek with our whole heart a spirit of life and devotion which is most pleasing to God.

To that I can only add, Amen and pray that these words and messages will stimulate your minds to action.

I feel that it is very important that we have a clarification of the power and intention of the Word and His words. Words have been so watered down and meanings altered or made obsolete that we are having a hard time knowing what the true meanings ever were. Words matter. Words have life meanings. There is power in words—words have power and they have energy. Words heal; words hurt. Words contain life or death.

There is meaning in every word and every word holds a message. Words contain messages to better help us to understand the true meaning of the word. Every word is a part of a picture; every sentence tells a story. All you have to do is let your imagination connect them together. What I know now is that it is not only what you say but also how you are understood. Our lack of understanding can limit us in ways that are not beneficial to us or to other people. That was my problem; I had such a limited knowledge of words that it impaired my understanding. What I am learning is that same attitude goes over into other areas of our lives and causes conflicts that could otherwise be avoided if we had proper understanding. When our communication skills are limited, we tend to contend with people due to some minor misunderstanding. Much of the time what is being conveyed to us is not understood. We are told that wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. (Proverbs 4:7 NIV) Most words carry an array of possible and subtle meanings. We have to be careful to check the context to get the proper meaning. I am learning that I cannot be so tied to the meaning of any particular word that I think no other word could express the same meaning.

Words are very important to God, for it was the spoken Word that bought everything into being. And God said, Let there be light… and God said let there be…. And it was so. We have within us the same capabilities to speak things into being, good or bad. Speak and it’s done. By our word, our world is formed, so it is very important for us to understand the importance of what we say.

Words are containers; they hold within them the power of life and death. Jesus said, The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63, KJV) The words that we speak should be life-giving. Change your words, and you will change your life. Words have momentum; they can carry us from one experience to another. When your words change, you change. The Word tells us that by our words we are justified or condemned. (Matthew 12:37)

My desire is for the reader to be challenged to a closer walk with the Lord, to learn along with me the true meaning of any particular word. I pray that, along with me, you will be more cognitive about the true meanings of words—not just thinking that we know, but taking the time to meditate and allow the Holy Spirit to impart to us what we need to learn and apply to our lives. I pray that we play a huge part in helping to usher in the whole world being filled with the glory of the Lord.

I would like to give the meaning of the word acrostic. It is a series of lines or letters that when read in sequence forms a message or phrase. These devotionals are not meant to be read through in a sitting. There will be one devotional per week for fifty-two weeks—each devotional will focus on an acrostic with its own unique meaning and a short text to follow. One devotional a week to ponder, meditate, and explore.

At the end of each devotional, you will find reflection questions and Scriptures. The purpose of the questions is to prompt you to reflect upon how you can apply the message from each acrostic in your own life. I pray the questions will whet your appetite to search the Scriptures, to meditate and ponder, and to let the knowledge go from your head to your heart. I encourage you to answer the questions, but don’t limit yourself to the written questions. There is enough space to add your own thoughts and ideas. The Holy Spirit may give you particular insights that you want to record.

Although the book is intended to be read as a weekly devotional, I learned from the first edition that sometimes it’s impossible to read only one acrostic at a time. One word may lead you to others. At times, you may want to find a word to help you with a particular problem. Once you purchase the book, it becomes yours to use in the way that is most beneficial for you. My wish for you is that you will be inspired to explore further to learn the true meanings of words and the messages that are embedded in them. Most of all, I want you to become more deeply acquainted with the Word Who is our life.

I don’t think anything pleases the Father more than for us to spend time with Him, exploring, questioning, and learning more about the One Who knows everything there is to know about us. I believe one of the reasons we remain here on earth for the short period that we have is to get to know Him as we are known. What makes Message in a Word and Message in a Word 2 so unique is that the Holy Spirit gives me a word and then gives me the acrostic, and the acrostic describes the word.

Just recently a longtime friend introduced me to a song called Dream by Shirley Murdock. One line of the song in particular stands out to me and further encourages me to continue in what God has assigned me to do. In the song Shirley said, God gave me a dream that would not die, God cannot lie.

As readers of Message in a Word know, the conception of these books came about from a series of recurring, persistent, progressive dreams. The dreams progressed from my being pregnant to giving birth to a vivid picture of my breastfeeding a baby. Along with the picture, I was told that what I ate was very important as it would certainly affect the baby. After one of the dreams, I asked the Lord what having so many dreams of the same nature could mean. In my thoughts I heard, Feed my sheep. I could better understand the importance of my eating habits because when our thoughts are printed on paper to be read, it is a form of feeding people. I once heard that rotten milk might make you sick but rotten meat could kill you.

In one of the dreams, I had become so busy that I had forgotten that I was pregnant. How you can forget that you are pregnant, I do not know. I might have forgotten, but God certainly had not. In yet another dream I could see the baby coming with the feet first—footling breech with one or both feet poised to deliver first. When I saw the baby’s feet, I backed up and sat down. A breech birth is more apt to happen when there are multiple births, and women with multiple births are more likely to have at least one baby in a breech position simply due to space constraints.

There certainly are more babies waiting to be manifested. What I learned in this dream was don’t sit on the baby. As bad as we as mothers might not want to go through the birthing process, we must. The baby will come when it’s due.

I think the most exciting of the dreams was the one that showed me in my older age I would conceive and have a baby. I was especially elated and privileged to be able at my age to have a child; this is where I am now. In this dream, I was holding a baby in my arms and I walked through double doors. When I opened the doors and walked in, a large black dog clamped down on my left hand. I pried the dog’s mouth open and freed my hand. I have found that the clamping down and fastening onto my hand are things that come to try to stop the work. This could be computer problems, discouragement, constant hounding or harassments to prevent the work from progressing—anything that would keep me from finishing the work.

The last dream showed me that my water had broken and I was being wheeled into the delivery room. I am so grateful that God does not give up on us. What finally unraveled and became plain to me was when I had what I call a no-picture-talking-dream. I awoke to hear, I have an issue with you. God was giving me yet another opportunity to broaden the borders of my mind. I had my own preconceived idea about what issue meant.

It took me some time but with much prayer and pondering, I finally came to an understanding of what God had been saying to me all those years: The baby was a book. The first baby was born July 16, 2010, and here I am with baby number two.

I am always amazed at the awesomeness of God. He is so creative and as a part of that creation, we become an extension of who He is and what He does—we become creative. So, here we are again, Message in a Word 2. I will attempt to give to you what God has given to me in the form of acrostics. I have learned so very much from this project. Mostly, I feel God desires us to expand our vision. There is a much bigger picture to see. It helps us to get outside of our comfort zone and explore. There is so much more to life than we could possibly perceive.

God has certainly taken me out of my little place and put me in a broad place. I am treading waters that I never would have imagined. I have at times felt that I was in over my head, but God has been faithful and the Holy Spirit has certainly been my teacher to lead and guide me and to give me understanding.

Again, as I have pondered the Word
