About this ebook

When a wildland fire lands Scott McGregor in the burn unit and sends his career up in smoke, a decade-old emergency contact card brings his former college lover, Robby Hammond, to his hospital bed. After six months of hospitals and rehab, Scott starts a new life as owner of the Mountain Shadows Campground. Maybe learning to run a bed and breakfast—not to mention dealing with the permanent residents—will keep him from making Robby the center of his universe. Again.

Leaving San Francisco to take a part-time position as a law enforcement ranger makes no sense at this stage of his life, but after Scott’s critical burns, Robby moves to Flagstaff anyway—to take up residence at Mountain Shadows—which has nothing to do with his long-buried feelings for his ex. Despite the white-hot attraction that still burns between them, too much is at stake for Robby to take that chance. Again.

Torn apart a dozen years ago by an unlimited ability to cause each other pain, each man believes the relationship door is firmly closed, but when life brings them back together, Scott is still the irresistible force to Robby’s immovable object, and where there’s smoke...there’s fire.

Solid start to the first leg if the 2014 edition of the round Robin series Pulp Friction. 4 authors write a series within a series, culminating in a grand finale written by all four authors.

In Firestorm, two men who haven't seen one another since college reunite after one is seriously injured in a fire. Both set out to build new lives, but a 12 year absence may have made them too different to be mire than friends.

Chapter One

The road to hell has nothing to do with intentions and everything to do with whiteout conditions on I-40. The words were ground out between clenched teeth and nearly whisper soft.

Scott McGregor didn’t respond, just risked a quick look at Robby, who gripped the wheel with white-knuckled intensity. His old friend hunched forward, as if another few inches closer to the windshield would help him see through the thick envelope of white that threatened to smother them.

I think we’re almost to the exit now, Scott said. It was mostly a guess, but he wanted it to be true. Needed it to be true. He used his hands to reposition his right leg, which was stiff and achy from the long drive and bitter cold. If the damned thing were working properly, he wouldn’t have needed Robby to pick him up from the burn unit in Albuquerque.

What a difference six months and twelve days could make.

A flash of green caught his eye. Okay, this is it, Rob. We get off here and head up Lake Mary Road.

Jesus Christ. What the fuck made you decide to move to Flagstaff? Robby’s words were muttered, his focus remaining on navigating the gentle curve of the off-ramp. When they reached the bottom of the hill, despite the brake he saw Robby apply, the heavy Tahoe rolled right through the stoplight, a gentle slide on the packed snow and ice that left them up against a snowbank and facing the exit
