About this ebook
The Sleeping Warrior is a poetry book by Stephen A. Murphy it's inspired by the lush surroundings on the Northwest coast of Ireland as well as his travels away from home. Stephen’s first collection is a journey into the mythology of the Irish past, insights into its troubled present, and reflections on life. As well as ties in mythology the backdrop to this poetry is in Lough Gill, a lake immortalized in the Yeats poem, The Lake Isle of Inisfree. His performances have seen him lauded as 'Bardic' and 'Inspired', winning multiple awards along the way for the quality of his verse, his poetry is a mix of an Ireland beyond the romantics of postcards and a philosophy heavily inspired by Oriental thought.

A head of white hair that sits
languid atop once broad shoulders
stares vacantly across the
golden valley, drawn by the din
of the distant drums.
In these fields
he fought and died
