About this ebook
"Look out at the river. It is the future. Starting from tomorrow and stretching until... Well, further than you can throw. If it had been any other day I probably would have just walked away, but according to him it was the 74th most boring day in history. I always loved a good loophole and he never said what kind of throw so I decided to skip the stone. If I had only known...

Time & Again
His voice split my quiet afternoon like a firecracker. I flinched and gripped the rock I was about to throw tighter. He had only said, Wait,
but the word still reverberated through my head like rolling thunder.
I turned to find the source of the slowly fading echo in my mind. There was only one person in view, but I continued to scan the trees in disbelief. The booming voice that had shaken me could not have come from the frail old man I saw standing there. His white hair was just long enough to be called shaggy, but never fell in front the steady blue eyes that seemed locked onto me. The white of his beard had streaks of silver running through it and reached the coffee-colored buttons of his beige sport coat. He stood perfectly still, leaning slightly on the wooden cane in his right hand.
Our mutual silence quickly became awkward. The soft slap of the river against the shore and chorus of birdcalls from within the trees only seemed to make our silence louder. It wasn't as if I had something better to do (I had just lost my job and my girlfriend had lost me over a year ago), but having a staring contest with a strange old man was not high on my list of things to try when bored.
Can I help you?
A smile parted his beard like a curtain being drawn aside.
Yes, you may. Did you know that today is the 74th most boring day in all of history?
