LEGEND OF THE LAND OF THE SEEDS

Darkness threatens to engulf the land of men. Nero and his evil sergeant, Beltshazar, enter deep into the regions of light, enslaving the seeds of the King of Lights and destroying all that is good and beautiful. Beltshazar, ever hungry to fill his cages and inflict torment and despair upon the seeds, accompanies the dark lord Daytura and his dark hordes into the King's lands to bring back the captives.

The shadows of Daytura’s mighty black wings create an atmosphere of depression, despair and fear within the seeds, leaving them vulnerable to capture. The land of men is rapidly decaying. The only moisture available is now the polluted River of Death. As the earth drinks the decaying water into itself large gaping holes appear in the surface. The beautiful Garden of Eden, once the King's own garden, is filled with rotting, withered trees and is the haunt of Lynstra and her breed of deformed woman seeds.

Packs of wolfhounds roam the land, seeking to devour any straying seeds and the smell of decay and fear waft through the air. But in the Realm of Light, the King of Light, who is also the Commander of the Army of Light and his son, call the Kingdom of Light to prepare for war! A mighty battle looms between the Kingdom of Darkness and the Kingdom of Light. The king recruits rescued seeds who are willing to fight with weapons of light in the name of light. These recruits will enter the domains of darkness to rescue and restore the stolen seeds.

Toowyn, who was once a mighty warrior in the Dark Lord's service, has now returned to the light. He and Daneel now fight for the King and the Kingdom of Light. Jonathan, who is the resident healer of the Kingdom of Light, is sent by the King with Toowyn and Daneel to fight. The King warns them sternly to stay on the path if they wish to return. To remember they are of light and love and remember the names that He (the King) has given them. Only if they do these things, will they be able to enter the darkness and return. The Kingdom of Darkness and the Kingdom of Light are recruiting seeds to prepare for the last great battle.

    CHAPTER 1 TOOWYN’S BIRTH

Josreall the priest entered the tent of Gideon and Rebekah. The women healers lit scented candles and the smell of roses and jasmine wafted through the damp night air. Rebekah sat washed and smiling with her new baby boy held securely in her arms.

Josreall addressed Gideon, Have you decided on a name for your first son, Gideon? Gideon nodded, but said nothing further. Josreall laughed. May I know the name?.

Toowyn he said, the name echoing loudly through the still night air. Outside the tent other villagers heard and picked up the name. The news was quickly spread throughout Gideon’s village and riders were dispersed to tell outlying clans. The village minstrels, who were waiting in the camp for the name of the leader’s first born son, starting playing a song with harps and drums to announce his arrival.

Lilfillia’s voice rose on the night air as she sang a song of Toowyn. All within the tent and the village were silent. She sang,

His birth does herald the days of light,

He one so brave shall not fear the night,

    Or the darkness that wanders

    From deep in the earth.

He will be able to break the curse.

He shall bring lost souls rest

And his sword of truth will cut deep.

He will be blessed, though he wanders

From the path and loses his way

    And though sorrows rise

And he loses the light of day,

He shall prevail as a son of light.

A precious child, he will return home

    To the father’s land victorious

With all that was lost restored to his hand.

    Toowyn.

Josreall knelt beside Rebekah and took the sleeping Toowyn. Using the anointing oil, he made the sign of the cross on his forehead. Speaking softly he said, I name you Toowyn, son of Gideon and Rebekah and Warrior of Light and Truth. May your path always bring you home to the light..

The healers brought warm scented water. Josreall sprinkled in gently over Toowyn’s little body. May the water of life always wash away the dirt and pain of darkness, and may your thirst always be for the true living water that only the King of Light and his son can give..

Toowyn was re-wrapped by the healers and handed back to his mother. The baby sighed but slept. As a warm breeze wafted through the village, with the scent of spring, one villager whispered to another, winter is over a new day dawns.

After the birth of Toowyn, the village settled into a peace it had not known for some time. The dark lord’s servants ceased to attack the villagers as they harvested their crops or gathered herbs and wild vegetables from the forest. The webs of the spider women were not seen in the forest and Daytura, with his flock of crows and vultures were absent from the evening sky. The villagers began to wonder whether the battles were just bad dreams. Good water once again flowed from the village wells, replacing the putrid water from the River of Death. The land flourished from this water source, gardens grew and life was restored to the cattle, horses, herds of village sheep and pigs. Banqueting once again became a way of life for the villagers and their neighbours.

Toowyn’s sister, Rebecca, was born when Toowyn was 12 years old and named after her mother. She was fair and beautiful like Toowyn’s mother. The song Lilfillia sang after her birth told of her future as a healer and artist like her mother. The women healers of the village anointed her with all the perfumes and scents of the forest.

Gideon sent invitations to villages far and near to attend a banquet. His intention was to celebrate the birth of his new daughter, but also to meet with the elders of the other villages to co-ordinate a war strategy. After such a long peace he knew that the people had begun to forget the arts of war and Gideon, along with older members of the village, did not believe the peace would last forever. They knew they must prepare for war and educate the younger leaders regarding the deceptive strategies of the enemy. This was the same year Toowyn and his friends were to start their sword training in earnest.

    CHAPTER 2 A BANQUET

Villagers came from far and wide to join the feasting as Gideon was a respected leader and advisor. Tents dotted the hillside, children played and cattle grazed outside these tents. Gifts were piled up in a corner of the big banqueting tent and long wooden tables held dish upon dish of delicious treats. Wandering minstrels roamed throughout the village singing songs of past and future wars, jugglers and fire breathers amazed the villagers with their skills. The best swordsmen of the villages engaged in tournaments displaying their skills in hand to hand combat, telling stories of how they had defeated the dark lord’s servants in battle. Archers sat in groups, preparing bows and arrows and blacksmith’s fires were spread throughout the camp. The sound of hammer on steel resounded throughout the village.

The evening was fast descending and preparation for the banquet was almost
