Very helpful on a confusing subject. The english explanation is very concise and not confusing as in some Japanese texts. The teachers and textbooks tend to make these overly complex while this explanation is very straightforward. It was nice that the paper focused on key verbs through the text and stayed with the same set of verbs. Thank you.

Foreword

This book is NOT a complete guide on learning Japanese, it is aimed at those just beginning to learn the language, who still rely on Romaji (Japanese written with the letters we use in English) and who are looking for a concise explanation of how to conjugate verbs. Adjectives are also covered briefly in Appendix B.

There are many differences and similarities between Japanese and English. Remembering these is a good way of learning a language.

Introduction (i) – Sentence structure

Japanese and English are very different. Not just in the way they are written, but in the way the sentences are constructed. Let's look at a couple of quick examples.
