About this ebook

This is probably the easiest to read and understand book available that describes what happened to Planet Earth during and after the 371 days that Noah and seven others remained secure inside the ark. They left behind a one-continent world and landed in a newly-shattered world, the one great land mass having been ripped apart into the continents we know today. Stones and bones tell the story.

After spending 18 years building a successful nationwide management recruitment firm, Russ Miller walked away from it all in the year 2000 so he could found Creation, Evolution & Science Ministries. He’s dedicated his life to studying Creation-Evolution issues and developing CESM’s popular, yet challenging, PowerPoint programs. Russ has presented over 1,000 seminars and church service messages and appeared on international telecasts. Through thousands of radio programs he has presented scientific evidences which have challenged hundreds of thousands of Christians worldwide to confidently believe the whole Bible – word for word and cover to cover. For much of his adult life, Russ was a Theistic Evolutionist. He believed God created, but he accepted without question that God took billions of years to get it done. But when Miller watched the video presentations of a Creationist, the accounts of Creation in the Book of Genesis suddenly made perfect sense. The realization that there exists massive evidence for an earth that is thousands, and not billions of years old, inspired Russ to get Bible truth out to everyone he could.Russ co-wrote with Jim Dobkins the four-book GENESIS Heritage Report Series, consisting of:The Theft of America’s HeritageDarwinian Delusion371 Days That Scarred Our PlanetThe Submerging ChurchThe print editions of these books are available at http://www.new-earth-thought.com and at http://www.marjimbooks.com. 371 Days That Scarred Our Planet - Russ Miller

The 371 days in the title of this report represent the time that Noah, his wife, and their three sons and their wives remained in the ark.

From the time of the Biblical flood until the 8th century B.C. the calendar year was based on 12 months of 30 days each: 360 days in a year.

Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up and the windows of heaven were opened.

This tells us the exact day the global flooding began. And this next verse tells us the exact date that Noah and the seven other people got out of the ark:

Genesis 8:14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.

In Genesis 8:13 we learned that this was now Noah’s six hundredth and first year.

    Here’s the math.

From the 17th day of the second month to the end of that month is 14 days counting the 17th day. From the third month through the end of that year is ten months: 10 x 30 days = 300 days for a total of 314 days spent aboard the ark during that calendar year.

They were on the ark for one month and 27 days in the next calendar year: 314 + 30 days + 27 days = 371 days.

Our planet was tortured beyond imagination during those 371 days. Pre-flood world conditions and climate were replaced with a world of chaos.

The one great land mass that God raised up out of the waters during the six days of creation was broken into multiple continents. Scientists refer to it as continental drift and claim that it took over 300 million years to take place.

Those same scientists talk of the last ice age occurring 10,000 years ago.

But the evidence points clearly to a post-flood ice age.

    Remember:

We all have the exact same evidence to examine and draw conclusions from.

We will examine that evidence in this report and let you draw your own conclusion.

    A bit of advice

Read this report with an open mind. I say this coming from a background of having been a Theistic Evolutionist. I believed that God created everything; however, I believed He had to have taken billions of years to get the job done.

That belief made a hypocrisy of my Christian testimony and witness as old-earth beliefs teach that it was billions of years of death and suffering that eventually brought man into existence.

But God’s Word states that it was man’s sin that brought death into existence, separating us from Him and requiring that we be reunited, or redeemed, with Him. This is the foundation for why Jesus died on that cross—to redeem Believers with our Creator.

Old-earth beliefs, which deny the global flood for reasons I will soon explain, represent the single greatest assault on the Bible’s foundations in all of history.

When my eyes were opened to the truth, which is that the Bible is true word for word and cover to cover, my life’s mission became focused on teaching others what I had learned:

Namely, that how the earth’s strata layers formed is the key to one’s belief in the age of the earth and when sin and death entered the world. These are keys to whether people place their faith in God’s Word and His plan of salvation.

This will become crystal clear as you read this writing.

This report presents and discusses the multitude of evidence that is available for examination. My contention is that this evidence clearly documents a global flood and an earth that is thousands of years old, and not billions or even millions of years old.

If you are a fellow Believer who trusts that the earth is only a few thousand years old you will relish this report’s refutation of old-earth beliefs.

And if you hold to old-earth beliefs, my hope is that you will carefully weigh the evidence just as I once did.

Don’t be surprised if you never look at our planet the same way again.

    2 Peter 3:3-6

³ Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

⁴ And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

⁵ For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: ⁶ Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

Chapter One: Our Planet Is Devastated

During and after the 371 days that Noah, his wife, and their three sons and daughters-in-law were on board the ark the planet was ravaged.

The world they had known ceased to exist.

Massive evidence supports what the Bible reveals. We will discuss that evidence in detail in this report. We will also consider the implications of these events with regard to the age of the earth.

First, however, I invite you to join with me in a creative exercise. I think this will help you get a good feel for what happened to the people, plants and animals—and to Planet Earth—during those 371 days.

Let your mind envision the world that was. See the massive land mass, not yet broken up into today’s continents. Look at all that greenery; lush, fruit-laden vegetation everywhere, kept green by an amazing underground watering system that allows a mist to rise up and cover the land that is never parched.

It is like living in a greenhouse, the climate always mild and perfect. No one has skin cancers from too much exposure to the sun as the mist, and possibly a solid or vaporized type of shield above the atmosphere, protects the planet from the sun’s ultra violet, gamma and x-rays. People can live to incredible ages in this perfect environment.

But now listen to sounds made by the family of Noah. The sawing and fitting and hammering as the large gopher wood beams are set into place and then covered with pitch.

The other people of the land, who, according to the Bible, have been judged to extinction because the world is filled with their violence and corruption, scoff at the builders of the ark. They do not understand that each sound and each action of Noah’s family is another part of God’s edict that the end of all their flesh is about to arrive.

And note that God does not say, Okay, Noah, I am going to flood the land, but it is going to be a local flood, so get your family together and hike out of here. You can get a long ways away by the time I bring all flesh in this valley to its end.

No, God directs Noah to build the ark—a task that consumed 120 years—right where they were so no one will be able to say of God, He gave me no warning. God is unjust.

Each sound, each action of Noah’s family is a warning, an outreach to say, You can still be saved from this destruction to come.

Now watch the ramp-like door of the ark as it is raised up and sealed tight by the invisible hand of our Creator God.

Suddenly the ground quivers as the fountains of the deep erupt.

Lava-hot water mingled with magma and mud spew from giant fissures suddenly crisscrossing the great land mass. The surging fountains are eroding massive amounts of soil and producing a muddy flow of sediments.

The ground continues to shake and the sky darkens as huge walls of water, river-sized walls of water, fall upon the earth. This is not a rainstorm. The Hebrew text noun is Mabuwl [Strong’s Lexicon 3999], and has the basic meaning of a flowing, a deluge, and not merely raindrops.

And perhaps it is not only water.

There are Christian scholars who believe our planet was created with some sort of protective shield which would have been destroyed at the time of the global flood. Today we can only speculate whether it existed and if it was a vaporized or solid substance, possibly the firmament of Genesis 1:17. The Hebrew word is Raqia [Strong’s Lexicon 7549], which according to Josephus means to pound into thin sheets of metal and stretch across the arch of heaven.  If such an arched shield did exist it added to the deluge as the windows of heaven were opened and it fell to earth.

So huge and devastating is this maelstrom that most birds and flying reptiles are clubbed to earth. Many people, buildings and temples to false gods are drowned under the crushing weight of the flowing waters. Animals, even complete herds, are pounded into unrecognizable heaps of fur, meat and blood and buried by the massive sediment-filled waters.

Faces of horrified scoffers, which were so recently etched with sarcastic grins, turn ashen. Too late the people realize that they had stood by and cursed the men and women who had built the very boat which now floated safely atop the water as mud flows and magma envelop the landscape.

Hear the anguished screams of surviving men, women and children as they scramble to higher and higher ground for safety, some now pleading for Noah to reopen the door of the ark. But the water is relentless and keeps rising. Human footprints are left behind in the soft mud to be discovered in the earth’s rock layers way into the future.

Birds screech as landing places are covered with water. Their wings give out and they drop from the sky.

Wild animals, some of the largest that have ever lived, run to and fro but fail to escape the catastrophic events that are unfolding. Tracks, including those of the dinosaurs, are left behind in the soft mud to be preserved in the forming strata layers.

For 150 days the surging waves increase. Eventually all succumb to the rising flood waters and many animals are buried in the accumulating sediment layers, thus being preserved as fossils to be found 4,000+ years into the future.

The last of the condemned humans gasp for air as they struggle to keep from drowning. See other bodies splinter on rocks under the unimaginable crush of tons of water and sediments.

And see small puffs of blood momentarily cloud ocean waters as the last surviving animals and people are eaten alive by sea creatures and giant sharks.

These are the same people who had been offered sanctuary on the ark, but turned it down.

They turned their collective backs on Noah, scoffing at his efforts to warn them of the impending flood judgment coming upon the planet.

And – to their eternal dismay and damnation – they turned their backs on God.

    Creator God.

The God who had created the universe.

The same God who now judged man’s sin with waters that covered all the high hills under heaven, while providing a means of physical salvation for the last God-honoring humans on earth.

Watch the water overwhelm the planet.

It is not a simple, steady rise. It is tempestuous and destructive beyond human imagination.

Look at the fiery plumes as thousands of volcanoes erupt around the world.

    Incredible, isn’t it?

For the first forty days and forty nights of the deluge the sky rains down what had served as God’s windows of heaven.

The fountains of the deep continue to burst forth with scalding hot waters, magma and mud.

    The flood waters increase for 150 days then God makes a wind to pass over the earth and the waters subside. {The Hebrew word used was rauch [Strong’s Lexicon 7307] which is translated Spirit elsewhere. It is possible that the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters that were covering the earth, just as He had done on the first day of His six-day creation.}

Eventually the rainfall ceases yet the flooding continues for over twelve months in total.

It’s as if the planet is inside a washing machine. Massive sloshing to and fro of waves taller than today’s Manhattan-sized skyscrapers pick up billions of tons of debris and sediment, slapping down layers and picking up layers only to slap down more layers.

During the latter stages of God’s watery judgment valleys crash down to form today’s ocean basins as the planet’s original crust collapses into the now-emptied chambers that once held the fountains of the deep.

    Mountains are thrust skyward.

The rupturing of the planet’s crust smashes the
