    Jill noticed the rebel as he crept out of the nearby forest, but she didn't say anything. She watched for a moment as he entered the garden and hid behind a well-trimmed hedge, sneaked past sprays of multicolored flowers, tiptoed over the soft emerald lawn. Even from the distance of the bedroom window she could see that he was filthy, his clothes torn, his long hair and beard matted. But she didn't want to break the mood of the moment.
