ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
First and foremost, we would like to acknowledge and thank our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who is the head of our lives. This project came together with the belief, support, and outright assistance of some very special people. Huge thanks and appreciation to Benjamin Dickerson (for giving me a safe haven to write in when our office got crazy), David Levinson (for giving me something to write with), Breanna, Taylour and Ronald (for giving me something to write for, Your Future
), my mom Big Ann (for dropping me on my head as a child and not telling anyone), to my cousin Buddy (no particular reason, I just know if I did not mention you I would never hear the end of it), to my editor, proofreader, analyst, psychologist, lover and friend Shannon. I say we, because it feels strange saying me. Lord knows there would be no me without we. I love you with all my heart but, I Want A Divorce from My In-Laws
. . . somebody please pray for we.
A special thanks goes out to all of you that purchased, bootlegged or even stole a copy of this book. Without your support this would still be an idea on my Mac desktop, so thank you.
And last but never forgotten and believe you me I’ve tried: my unofficial marketing, promotion and street team, The Haters.
Thank you so much for the free publicity. Please know your work is not in vain; without you there would be no gauge to judge my success.
"God said he would make my enemies my footstool, so
if I step on you or if you think I’ve stepped on you,
don’t take it personal. I’m just following orders."

Introduction
I met Nina several years ago at a Café called Irene’s. I worked there as a cook part-time at night while attending Julliard school of music. My aunt Janet got me the job. Nina and I hit it off right away, we went to different schools but we knew a lot of the same people. I was there the night when David walked in, I tell you all the women went crazy even my aunt. Nina however was reserved and did not give him as much attention as the others did. I think that’s what attracted him to her. I ran into Nina about two years ago at one of my performances and she still looked great. We laughed backstage and talked about everything from the café, David, friends, you name it. She reminded me how I would always tell her that the drama she went through would make a good book or movie. Well, she took me up on that offer and asked if I would write her life story that night. I was reluctant at first. Sure I’ve written before, but never about someone’s life. I told her I would pray about it and call her the next day. I reached out to her the following day and asked if she would meet me at my hotel. That afternoon Nina and her uncle Earl showed up. I had not seen him in ages either. He was still sharp as a razor and hysterical. I told Nina I would accept the task but on one condition: that she would allow me to tell the whole story and not sugar coat it for anyone, including the church.
She took a deep breath and agreed. Now although I knew a lot about the events that took place I took out my recorder, pen and pad just for minor details only Nina would know. I could tell it was almost like therapy for her as she sat there re-living it all over again. At one point she started to cry. I asked her if she was okay and if she was sure about this. She replied this was something she wanted to do; it was something she needed to do. I told her I had a title, Behind The Cross.
She smiled and said that sounds like a movie, let’s do it. I pressed play and she said . . .

I Can Be Anything
It was the first quarter of my senior year in college. I was anxiously counting the days until graduation, especially after being a year behind due to financial reasons. I was more than ready. My mom also had her hands full with a new position that required us to relocate once again. It was like the second time this year we had moved because of her
