      Introduction

      Why do some see ghosts, while others do not? Is it possible that various people are born with a sixth sense that enables them to have a closer connection with the spirit world? It has often been speculated that the sixth sense can be developed through practicing meditation etc. This may be true, but what of those who are born with this ability.

      Though there is no answer that can be declared to be the ultimate truth to this dilemma, there are some possibilities. Some of the theories about E.S.P. range from the likelihood that it is a primitive ability that has slowly deteriorated as mankind has advanced, to thoughts of a super sense that develops in the nervous system.

      Another theory that may explain why some people are born with the sixth sense is that the ability is inherited. Indeed, there are often several family members spanning through generations who tend to possess this talent.

      It is this theory that we will explore.

      It is believed that most people possess psychic ability to some degree. An individual’s skill could be as simple as intuition, or as advanced as being able to see into the future or the distant past. Again, there is the question of what factor decides the strength of the sixth sense in each individual?

      After investigating the Paranormal for years I stumbled upon a possible answer to this question. Subsequent to searching and sifting through an enormous amount of information from all angles, I have come to believe that the sixth sense stems from genetics. Of course this brings about another question. What happened to tweak the DNA of some, enabling them to experience the paranormal far more often than others?

      Chapter One

      Ghost, Goblins & Alien Life Forms

      The clock has just chimed midnight and you are dozing off – quite suddenly you hear the floor creak, and a door slams somewhere in the house. Startled, you rise from your warm bed to see what could have possibly made such a noise.

      Is it an intruder?

      You find nothing out of place. There are no windows open and the doors are still locked; let’s not forget that you are alone in the house.

      Could it have been a ghost?

      Of course not! Ghost and other supernatural beings simply do not exist. You know this is true because everyone says they don’t, and science cannot verify that which you cannot replicate and measure.

      Are you sure?

      Ghosts, demons and other paranormal phenomena have been reported among humans for most of mankind’s history. How can so many generations experience the supernatural if it does not exist?

      It could very well be true that not all people can identify with the reality of an unseen world, but this does not necessarily mean that it doesn’t exist. I have known people from both camps; those who have had at least one unexplainable experience, and others who have never known a strange event in their lives.

      This would be the first thing that tipped me off to the fact that there had to be some underlying reason as to why some could sense this other worldly phenomena, and some could not. This brought up many questions; the only thing that I knew for sure was
