About this ebook
Thomas Prescott returns in a smoldering thriller of murder, treachery, and revenge.
His love life in shambles, retired homicide detective Thomas Prescott returns to Seattle, the very place he fled from after his parents' deaths nearly a decade earlier. Just as Prescott is getting settled in, he sees a body floating in the private cove behind his boyhood home. It’s a woman. But not just any woman. It’s Ellen Gray—the governor of Washington—who has been missing for the past six weeks.
The lead suspect in the governor’s murder is her husband, famed defense attorney, Adam Gray. But unlike the Seattle Police Department—where Thomas was fired from several years earlier—Prescott has his doubts about Adam’s guilt. Ignoring direct orders to stay away from the case, Prescott soon finds himself drawn into the heart of the investigation.
Working side-by-side with SPD detective, Erica Frost, Prescott uncovers a sophisticated conspiracy linked to a new breed of killer. In his pursuit to catch a madman, Prescott’s investigation will take him from the state capital to the snow-covered peaks of the North Cascades and for the first time in his career, Thomas finds himself both the hunter...and the hunted.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Washington-state, thriller, crime-thriller, murder, murder-investigation, siblings, situational-humor, snarky, sarcasm, wilderness, wildlife-biologist, winter, witty, verbal-humor, ex-cop, friction, frustration, friendship, unputdownable, bad-puns, rule-breaker, PTSD, law-enforcement, senior-residence-facility*****After a horrific time in Maine, Prescott goes back to the former home of his family near Seattle to do some escapism since his sister has relocated to France. So here he is back where he got fired from the SPD homicide division and he finds a half-eaten body. Even worse, he has to contend with a lousy homicide cop with whom he has a history which turns into a cat and mouse game. Prescott is a brilliant detail-oriented detective who has always had a problem with rules, and this extends to the next few corpses he finds and does his own investigating. The plot twists can make you nutz! For rest and relaxation (besides the women) he spends time with an old man in a care home whose personal history threads throughout the other. Great book!I got this in audio narrated by Johnny Heller who once again proved his acting skills with this one.Finished it in a day and a half and want the next one.
