Cabin Fever
God Works in Mysterious Ways
Originally I wrote Cabin Fever as a writer’s seminar project. I liked it so much that I spent some time developing it into a legitimate short story. At the time Pastor Dave was simply a name mentioned in the text. The man himself had never been fleshed out.
Best selling Canadian mystery writer, Gail Bowen, read Cabin Fever and said tell me more about Pastor Dave. He sounds like he has potential. The sequel, God Works in Mysterious Ways, resulted from that conversation. Thanks Gail.
The two stories go hand-in-hand. Enjoy them both.

Karl, seeking a respite from his hectic work schedule, had wanted a relaxing peek at his mountain hideaway hidden away in Nova Scotia’s high country. Security cams mounted in various locations around the cabin transmitted to a secure web site. His favorite focused on the view down the lake. Right now, his attention was drawn to the large bear skin rug in front of the fireplace skirting one wall of the livingroom. It was the view from this camera that shook his world.

But then he recognized the unique scar on the woman’s bare buttock as she knelt over her partner. His own wife. Karl was near fainting. He reached down and hit the power switch, knowing full well that Bill Gates disapproved of this method of shutting down the machine.
Never in all their eighteen years of marriage had she taken him into her mouth, not even in the early days. To be sure, he had never had his head between her legs. These things were just unacceptable. Pastor Dave said so and Pastor Dave was never wrong.
Karl held his head in his hands, at a
