About this ebook

Desire At Will is a spiritual nonfiction book. We have the desire to serve God at our will. Who will you choose to serve all the days of your life? We must look at our will (heart, mind, and strength). We have the willpower to choose who we will serve through our decision-making process and to yield our spirits to God. Once we yield to God, we are motivated to be in the operation of God’s will. Moreover, there are encouraging and edifying ways to process our emotions and to develop our will to make godly choices.

There are five components being in the operation of God’s will: hear the voice of God (through His Word, other believers, and hearing from the Father); comprehend what He is speaking to our spirits; evaluate through discernment; choose to follow Christ; and act on it.

We are created to worship. We can also communicate with God through prayer, thank our Lord for His goodness through praise, and in everything we do is to glorify God.

    Foreword

Having The Will To Win: The will is the power of choice, over a thought or words that are processed through the soul realm. The will is the processing station of the soul. Soul is a combination of the heart and mind. Also, the soul can interchangeably be called a spirit. It controls what you receive or do not receive; what you will do or not do. However, willpower is a decision-making process that allows man or woman to yield to God. Peter and John in Acts 3 are two men who exemplify yielding to God. When a believer yields to God, he or she takes time to do what the Spirit directs them to do. However, some believers are not available to the Spirit, when it leads.

Five Key Components In The Operation Of The Will:

    Hearing is involved

    Understanding

    Evaluating

    Choosing

    Acting

In the operation of God’s will, we are to be open to hear the voice of God, through His Word, through other believers, and audibly from the Father. We are able to comprehend what He is speaking to our spirits. We are to evaluate the spirits through discernment, and choose to follow Christ, and act on it.

Isaiah 1:19, NKJV: If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.

Luke 9:23, NLT: Then he [Jesus] said to the crowd, If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

Are we willing to be obedient to what God commands us to do in His Word? If we follow His commandments, what He requires of us, we will be blessed in abundance. In Luke 9:23, we have a choice to follow Christ, but we are to pick up the cross daily. As believers of Jesus Christ, we are to follow the Lord, by imitating His life and obeying His commands. To take up the cross meant we are to remove our selfish desires and replace our time, energy, and money to help those in need. We can participate in community activities, and donate resources for the poor, and involvement in church ministries. Instead of working in our own spirit, seeking things our way, or to choose our own direction, our reliance is focused on becoming like Jesus Christ. Following Christ, can cost our very lives, but in the long run, we will have eternal rewards in heaven. This message was primarily applied to Jesus’ disciples [now for the Gentiles and the Jews], we are to identify sacrificially to Christ’s message.

Examples Of How The Will Works: God gave man and woman the freedom of choice, and the right to exercise our will. Will is used 348 times in the Scriptures. Some examples are Jesus: Matthew 4:19, I will make you fishers of men; Matthew 7:24, I will make wise men; Matthew 8:7, I will come and heal him; Matthew 10:32, I will confess before my Father in heaven; and in Matthew 13:35, I will speak things which have been kept hidden.

Your Will Relate To Your Faith: Through faith, the elders obtained His will of power (Hebrews 11:1, 2). Moreover, they believed in the Word of God that requires faith to abide in His will (Hebrews 11:24-27).

How The Wrong Emotion Affects Your Faith & Your Will: Wrong emotions will hinder your faith if you spend time meditating on them (Joshua 1:8). Wrong emotions will choke the Word from your heart; causing your faith to become unfruitful (Mark 4:19). Wrong emotions will delay the desire of your heart; affecting your expectations (Proverbs 13:12). Wrong emotions can cancel your faith, causing you to doubt God (James 1:6-8).

Five Proper Ways To Process Your Emotions:

Identify your emotions properly (John 8:32-34).

Determine where your emotions are leading or what they are saying to your mind (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

Consider options or solutions to control your emotional state (Psalm 119:103-105).

Take positive action steps in controlling your emotional state (James 1:22).

Repeat the process until it becomes an unconscious mental and spiritual condition (Psalm 119:130).

Three Ways To Develop The Will To Win!

Through making godly choices (Deuteronomy 30:19), I set before you life or death, blessing or cursing: therefore choose life.

Through mediation and imagination (Psalm 19: 14; Hebrews 12:2).

Through the successful experiences of what has been done by your willpower and faith in God (Joshua 24:15).

You have the willpower to win, the faith to obtain the manifestation of what you believe for; and the control over your emotions not to hinder your blessings from coming forth. HOLD FAST WITH THE WILL TO WIN!

Bishop Noel Vaughn stands in agreement for the will of God to reflect the love and gift of writing that proceeds forth from the anointed vessel that you are and that I believe as others read and receive the meaning of the content contained within the pages they will be blessed by the Lord.

    PRAYERS

    Fasting: We Give Ourselves Sacrificially

    To Do God’s Will

When we are fasting, it means we are abstaining from food for spiritual purposes during a period of time to seek God in prayer and receive power in His Word. Alternatively, some people are fasting from the Internet for a number of hours or day, from television, and other social activities to dedicate their time to God.

Some will sacrificially go without food and/or water to spend time in prayer. For instance, fasting was mandatory for the Jewish people once a year, on the Day of the Atonement (Leviticus 23:32). The Pharisees voluntarily fasted twice a week to impress the people of their holiness. However, we are praying to the Lord for spiritual guidance, spiritual awakening, and/or spiritual vision through God’s revelation.

Fasting is to seek the Lord, which is a time of cleansing our spiritual and physical bodies. It is a time of empowerment, encouragement, and a greater degree of consciousness to hear from the Lord. Fasting also feeds our spirit, which separates our needs from our wants. Through fasting and prayer, we are able to see things clearly and strengthen our faith. We will no longer be misled by the enemies traps to destroy and steal our blessings from the Lord—our joy, our guidance, our path of righteousness.

Faith, Jesus explains is as small as a mustard seed. Mustard seed sees the greatness of God’s power, never fails, and God will carry our burdens. He will lift all those burdens and cares, and open the heavens if we only ask. He promises when we ask, we will receive. He promises if we knock at His door, the doors will be open. He promises if we seek Him diligently, His presence will be available to us.

Matthew 7:7-8, NLT: Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

John 15:7, NKJV: If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be given you.

In Acts 13:2-4, at the church of Antioch, there were prophets and teachers. While they were worshipping and fasting, the Holy Spirit told Barnabas and Paul to preach to the others. These prophets placed hands on the people before leaving.

Persistence or boldness in prayer overcomes our insensitivity. To practice persistence, transforms our hearts and minds, it also helps us to understand and express the intensity of our need. Persistence in prayer helps us recognize God’s work (Luke 11:8). Furthermore, in Luke 11: 2-13, these Scriptures focus on three aspects of prayer: its content (Luke 11:2-4); our persistence (Luke 11:5-10); and God’s faithfulness (Luke 11:11-13).

Why do we pray? Jesus prayed. He is our ultimate example to become more like Him. Prayer is explained and told to us in God’s Word. It will cause us to grow and exercise our spiritual muscles. It will bring us into God’s presence, where we can experience His love, joy, and peace. Our wills imprint after God’s, while we are in His presence. After seeking God’s presence, we are able to bless others with His salvation, healing of the body, mind, and emotions. God meets the needs, but we have to ask.

James 5:16, NLT: The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

We are putting aside normal routines or making sacrifices for a specified, unified focus that brings us closer to God altogether. This means growth on a mental, emotional, and spiritual state of a man or woman. If God is not involved in our lives and does not answer our prayer requests, we are lost and helpless. We have to rely on His Word then we are exercising our faith like Abraham by depending on God to answer.

We, as believers, are the only people who can change our world through the tool of prayer. C.H. Spurgeon said, Whenever God determines to do a great work, He first sets His people to pray. Faithful prayer releases the Holy Spirit to act and allows us to see God in His full glory.

We pray for the lost sheep (those who do not know Jesus Christ). Those lost, if we attempt to share the gospel or the Word of God, they can be on deaf ears and unable to receive the message of the Lord, without praying first. Once we send our prayers to our Heavenly Father, He will let us know what to say with our lips for them to hear and see the one true God, when we proceed with sharing our faith. In addition, we can pray for people in our church and neighborhood for salvation and healing for each person in the household. Pray that God will remove the scales from the eyes of the blind, those who do not believe (John 16:8; 2 Corinthians 4:4).

Moreover, pray for every member in your congregation to have a heart of purity, a desire for repentance, and deliverance from unholy and ungodly influences. Additionally, pray for each member to allow God to sanctify them to be a holy vessel (1 Thessalonians 4:4; 2 Timothy 2:21).

Most of us, pray for our children, parents, and other relatives for strength, protection, and circumstances they are undergoing to seek God’s help. We can pray that each member of our family to be filled with a holy zeal and desire to spend time with their Heavenly Father. Pray for unity and the fullness of His Spirit to be released in the Church (John 14:12; 17:21-23). For our families and friends, to pray that our worship time will ignite people with compassion to pray and serve God with all their hearts, spirits, soul and body (Ephesians 1:17-19, 3:16-19; Philippians 1:9-11; Colossians 1:9-11)!
