About this ebook

On the dangerous frontier world of Nemesea, a stranded man becomes entangled in a war between a race of savage warrior women and a species of fearsome subhumans.

ALIEN EDEN is a series of science fantasy and weird horror stories set on the untamed planet of Nemesis, a frontier world which is host to a plethora of bizarre and dangerous misfits of evolution, including a multitude of species and races of strange humanlike animals, many of which prey on humans and have bizarre feeding and sexual needs.

It is a world where the female of the species is often the dominant one. Tribes of wild amazons abound. Some of them are sophisticated with a complex social order and an intriguing history, while others are primitive, their culture less highly evolved. They worship vastly ancient, primordial goddesses, to which they pay tribute in the form of live human sacrifice.

Also dwelling upon this mysterious planet are races of primal amazons which are downright bestial and subhuman. They are often virtually feral, their instinctual nature being more akin to that of the planet’s lethal predatory animals than humanity.

It is here, upon this mysterious world, where the often misinformed explorers and settlers from Earth clash with the warlike cultures and rigid social mores of savage clans of the indigenous warrior women. They also encounter a menagerie of creatures with bizarre symbiotic and parasitic reproductive cycles, which often incorporate humans, and endure countless, unpredictable perils and surreal horrors.

    ATTACK OF THE GORLOCKS

Perry Johns was in a dire predicament. Except for the clothes upon his back and his tiny communicator he had nothing. As it was, he was lucky to be alive. Taking some moments to compose himself and reflect on what had just occurred, he peered back across the West Neo Am Tributary.

A rampaging cyclopsoid had totaled his hover truck. The beast was larger than the biggest of Terran elephants, which it vaguely resembled. Its trunk ended in two powerful, hooked claws that it normally used to unearth the bulky tubers on which it fed. Those claws had shattered the hover truck’s windshield and peeled its cabin roof back with no effort at all.

Perry had not realized the awesome beast was so close. It had suddenly appeared from behind the tightly clumped copses of trees located directly beside his parked vehicle, attacking so quickly that there had been no time for Perry to lift off. With desperate seconds to spare, he had leapt from the wrecked cabin onto the ground.

The beast instantly went into a rage. Stunned, Perry ran for cover, glimpsing back in terror at the huge cyclopsoid as it pummeled his vehicle with incredible fury. On seeing Perry running through the shrubs, the creature stopped its savage onslaught upon the vehicle and charged, the massive eye in the centre of its forehead unblinking, fixed upon the man’s fleeing form. Its heavy hooves stomped upon the ground, causing it to tremor and tearing away great clods of earth and grass.

There had been no time for Perry to grab any supplies from his hover truck and realizing he stood no chance of outrunning the pursuing beast, he headed straight towards the dense and choked foliage near the Tributary. To his knowledge, cyclopsoids seldom ventured into water and found it difficult to negotiate tightly packed herbage. However, right then, Perry couldn’t be to too sure of his facts. The gigantic beast had initially attacked from a copse of crowded, intertwining trees and it was in a maniacal rage. The thing was just as likely to chase him no matter where he ran and it was gaining ground on him with every precious second!

Finally, Perry reached a high cliff at the Tributary’s edge and scrabbled upon a prominent pulpit of rock that jutted out over the water, easily more than thirty feet below. But this was no time to stall because of an imminent attack of vertigo. The instant the cyclopsoid loomed up over him, about to snatch him up with its flailing, clawed trunk, Perry leaped into the river. When he hit the water, it stung harshly and he plummeted deep.

Moments later Perry rose to the surface. Peering upward, he saw the cyclopsoid standing perilously close to the edge of the cliff off which he’d just dived. The dramatically overhanging pulpit could barely withstand the enormous brute’s weight. Rubble rained down, splashing all around. The
