    Depicts the destruction of a community by an insidious parasitic invader which preys on its victims in a most intimate and grotesque manner.

    The strange and bizarre works of Steve Carter and Antoinette Rydyr (S.C.A.R.) incorporates anything from Sci Fi and horror fantasy to surrealism and weird satire. All of it has a strong element of the fantastic and a healthy dose of experimentalism. They create in a variety of mediums – prose fiction, illustration, comic books, screenplays and even music, which they produce with their experimental bands FistFunk Futurists and TeknoSadisT. Their screenplay "Curse of the Swampies" won Best Feature Film Screenplay at the A Night of Horror International Film Festival 2010. Current projects include new comics, more audio experiments and prose stories. There are also a number of screenplays and novellas in the works.

      UNSAFE SEX

      No one knew where it came from. It rode in on the waves one hot summer’s day early in December. Nobody noticed it, or if they did, paid it no heed. It looked a bit like a small jellyfish. It wasn’t very big, about the size of a mouse. Its single, segmented tendril was no more than a foot long and wriggled like a worm from its translucent and convoluted underparts.

      It writhed on the wet sand, broiling under the intense heat of the sun. It craved shelter and moisture. There were bodies all over the beach but those that were of any potential use were too far away. The closest ones, a pair of lazily reclining sunbathers, were
