      Edith sighed and turned off the television. Hospital was so excruciatingly boring. Cardiac wards were even worse. Fat ugly men, heart monitors, ECGs and machines beeping all hours of the night, and no excitement in case it killed someone.

      Edith peered around the curtain separating her bed from Keith's. Keith was an exception to the 'fat ugly man' rule.
