Felon Blames 1970s Church Architecture for Life of Sin: The Ironic Catholic News, Vol. I
()
About this ebook
In the style of The Onion, Stephen Colbert, and occasionally Jonathan Swift, the writer of "The Ironic Catholic" website offers mild satirical takes on the world of Catholic news, focusing on the rich vein of human foibles in living the life of faith. The fake news stories (Attendees of Flannery O'Connor Conference Meet Dire End, Tired Mother Announces 'Come and See' Weekend, Re-gifting Chia Pets Not Considered Lenten Sacrifice, etc.) both entertain and teach what it means to be a faithful Catholic in a confused world with a light touch.
The Ironic Catholic
Just like G.K. Chesterton, without the insight, depth, humor, or talent. Oh, more than that? I am a 40-something Catholic systematic theologian and college professor, wife and mother of five, who moonlights as a humorist at The Ironic Catholic website. I love the Church, I love the saints, I love to laugh, and I love to teach. I got to do all four in these books.

Foreword
The Ironic Catholic
began in 2006 as a light humor and satire blog, poking gentle fun at human foibles in the Catholic Church. I could get all philosophical about the role of humor in the spiritual life, but let’s just say that humor leads to perspective, which leads to humility, which leads to honesty, which leads to God. Or if that logical train doesn’t work for you, just think of these news items as The Onion
on a holy and non-profane day. An IC a day keeps the hubris away
—or something like that.
In case you are new to this game, let me make clear: these stories are completely made up. And I am not making fun of the Church; I am poking fun at its all too human inhabitants (including myself).
To truth, joy, and cheerfulness!
In peace,
the Ironic Catholic

Satanic Demons Compared to Bedbugs, Hardened Sinners Repent in Droves
New York, NY: Fr. Amos Hardy didn't realize he was about to have the most successful advent reconciliation service on record.
But this past Sunday afternoon, St. Albert the Great Church had 100% participation in the prayer service, with everyone stampeding to the individual confessional lines. The secret? Bedbugs.
"The first Sunday of advent, I typically take the occasion to remind people that
