About this ebook

Ethan seems to have a perfect life. He's attractive to the ladies, has what everyone sees as the perfect job, and really seems to be good at just about everything he tries.

But, is it all just a little too perfect?

The only problem he seems to have comes from the fact that he just can't seems to get over his attraction for his best friends wife. But, when "things" start happening every time he "lusts" for her, he begins to question not only his own sanity, but his reality.

Is it worth it? Is it real?

First, I have to admit that I am a self-confessed lover of all things geeky, sci-fi, or superhero-related. I honestly feel everything is made better when you have fun experiencing it. For that reason, I write like I want to read: light, logical, and very easy to digest. (No long-winded prose or two-page scene descriptions here!)Zombies, space, monsters, glimpses into alternate futures, and tales of fantasy mixed with how I feel my characters would really react if they were really placed in the odd settings and positions I decide to put them in.When I'm asked about my writing style, I like to say that I write for the "I'll wait for the movie" types.

    To my daughters:

Even as I've posed the question of love and its reality,

there's one thing that's never been in question for me...

    your father loves you.

    Chapter One

Hut, red 72, red 72, hike!

A sudden clash of massive bodies commences on a rustic grass field.

The quarterback takes a three step drop and pretends he’s looking for a receiver down field. Instead, a delayed halfback takes a stutter-step to his left and takes the hand off.

Rushing full force into the gaping hole that’s opened up down the middle of the field the runners eyes are fixed on the goal line.

I couldn’t help myself. He was so cocky.

He thought he was going to score before he even hit the line of scrimmage. He didn’t even see me coming from around that nose tackle. When I hit him I was in a full sprint. The impact lifted him off his feet and horizontal. As he spun he lost complete control of his body and the ball.

When he hit the ground his eyes rolled back in his head and his chin strap was now covering his nose as his helmet hung half off his head.

Then the whistle blows and I awake sweating in my bed. Groggy it takes me a second to realize I was dreaming. Sitting up I see reflection in the mirror.

Ah, damn it, another one? I said to myself.

Getting ready for the day seems to be getting harder and harder. Picking a suit, taking a shower, and shaving maybe today I’ll skip the shave. Mid-thought my phones ringtone starts to play.

With the lights out, it feels dangerous. Here we are now, entertain us…

I‘m sort of annoyed at my real life and am not in the mood to talk to anyone just yet.

    What is it now?

I see it’s my best friend Joey and I’m no longer as annoyed. So I answer.

    What’s up buddy?

Big E! You got rid of that morning wood yet or should I call you back in two minutes?

Funny, why don’t you send Christy over here to give a brother a hand, or two?

She‘d probably like it too much and leave me for you!

Ah, I wouldn’t do that to you bro what’s up?

Chris wants you to come to dinner tonight to meet some hottie she’s lined up for you.

"Again? You know I’m cursed. A couple times
