About this ebook

Aside from his outward appearance, Kobi is a normal thirteen-year-old boy. Living with his mother, his father, and his identical twin brother, Raili, with whom he spends most days at the cove watching dolphins and whales feed, he is happy with his life just the way it is. But his fourteenth birthday is coming and Kobi has no idea how much his life is about to change.

When Raili is pulled through a puddle in the floor of their second floor bedroom by a monster armed with poisonous, spiked tentacles, Kobi goes in after him. What he finds isn't Raili, but a new world all together, buried beneath the ocean. With a bounty on his head that has been there since he and Raili's birth, Kobi will have to learn to fight or die before he can be reunited with Raili again. Everything he knew to be true was a lie.

People he loved and trusted are not who they seem. He isn't the normal boy he thought himself to be. A transformation is coming. Raili is gone. Blood is shed. Traitors lurk, waiting for their chance. War is inevitable. The fate of the world of Airion rests in his hands. The Wise One speaks. Failure is certain.

At a very young age I found reading difficult. In school, children laughed at me when I read aloud because my mouth would utter words my eyes did not see. I lost confidence and became uninterested in books all together. But my love of creating life on blank pages never ceased. Excitement soured through my fidgety little body every time my teacher mentioned the words “writing assignment”. Of course, at the tender age of nine I had no clue I could make a living doing what I loved and I certainly didn’t think I could do it with all my troubles with reading in general. So I wanted to be an actress instead.Accompanying my mother, an avid reader, to the library regularly over the next few years, my disdain for reading slowly began to subside—even if my loathing for reading aloud still lingered—and I started to tread the waters of literary imagination. But it wasn’t until my third year of junior high school that I truly dove into the ocean of pages filled with adventure, suspense, and mystery. Page turning novels like the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, The Claidi Journals series by Tanith Lee, and A Wrinkle in Time series by Madeleine L’Engle were my inspiration, not only to submerge myself into these different worlds, but also to broaden my own mind as I gave birth to new fictional life.During my sophomore year of college at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, I learned that my school offered a bachelors program for aspiring Creative Writing Majors. I had not considered majoring in Creative Writing, as writing was just something I liked to do when the occasion arose, but I jumped at the opportunity.I wrote the first four chapters of my debut novel, Airion: Return To Zire, as my senior thesis and continued it abroad during a one-year exchange in Japan. At present, I still live in Japan, writing and teaching English to elementary school students. With the first book of the AIRION series completed, my focus is directed to book two, Airion: Light and Dawn.

Kobi and his twin Raili discover a soft patch in their bedroom floor. A box appears in it, intriguing the boys who grab it. When they grab it something comes up and grabs Raili’s ankle pulling him into the hole. Kobi grabs him to pull him out but is not strong enough to keep Raili within his grasp in J. S Council’s Return to Zire, book 1 of Airion series. Kobi jumps in after Raili but is attacked by something in the deep ocean that springs up. What is happening to the boys? Will they live or be killed? Where are they going?Return to Zire is full of action and adventure. Kobi and Raili have been living lives on earth. They will now discover their pasts. They will also learn the destiny of their futures. These are two good characters that your pre-teen and teenage child will enjoy. The boys are twins but they have different personalities. It also seems they have different destinies. The story starts slowly but after the boys are in the ocean and discover Airion and its history the story picks up and moves quickly to its cliffhanger ending. We learn about the characters as J. S. Council builds the Airion world and history. The character development is good as we meet all the characters. I got a true sense of who and what they were. I did figure out what was happening to the one leader on the bad guys’ side before it was revealed to me but that was the only thing I figured out. By the end of Return to Zire I wanted the book not to end so I could find out what happens next, if cooler heads would prevail, if Raili would be safe or go to the dark side. Now I have to wait for the next book to have these questions answered.
