About this ebook

In world where words like child abuse, sexual abuse, molestation, incest, and rape are rarely spoken and in hushed tones, there are millions of survivors who live in silent torment. We do not talk about the things that happen in secrecy, and so they become the things that must stay hidden in the dark. Guilt, shame, anger, and emotional disorders often overcome survivors in the face of their overwhelming secrets, and quite often, they become lost to the darkness trapped deep inside.

Organza Shimmering chronicles the awakening of a shattered soul from the aftermath of child abuse. This collection of literary "snapshots", spanning nine years, follows Kylee Jones as she embarks upon her journey to healing. Although these poems are written by but one survivor, they tell the story of darkness, anger, fear, loneliness, and confusion that is all too common to child abuse survivors around the world.

    The beginning of all things dark…

    Don’t get me wrong when I say this, because I believe

    that my life is precious, and I would never want to lose it ~

    but I feel like there is nothing for me. My life is meaningless.

    I feel like everything is missing…

    Into the Night:

    Captured

    There had been a time, long ago, when the nights were not so dark. They were once friends that came on gentle wings, offering peace, joy, and silent wonder. She thought of those nights with a smile and little laugh came to her now. What beauty she once beheld in the stars. They were maps to another world. Sweetly scented breezes caressed her face, and warm dreams filled her heart. A sigh escaped her lips as she thought, Those nights were long ago. Now the stars were hidden from her view, and the night had a life of its own. The breezes had turned cold and the darkness had drawn too close. Menacing shadows slithered through the night, and they had often reached out to claim her.

    One night they had finally succeeded, and they held her in their grasp. So cold and indifferent were their hands. Terror filled her heart, and it was almost more than she could bear. As they carried her away, she could see the fading lights. They twinkled then slowly vanished, as though a dark mist had overtaken and extinguished them. She cried out in the darkness, but for her there came no help.

    The Winter Wind

    The cold winter wind softly whispers

    Across the barren land –

    Making the skeletons of trees sway hauntingly;

    Playing with fallen leaves,

    Causing them to dance with delight

    In the cold, crisp chill;

    Kissing the water with icy lips;

    Howling and scorning life;

    Making all creatures scurry for shelter

    From the frozen hands of death.

    Unseen

    Each new day they pass me by;

    Do they see the pain within my eyes -

    Or the heart in which it swells,

    Where in loneliness I dwell?

    If they
