    How on earth could I still remember my first day of school from sixty years ago? My new clothes smelled of noxious chemicals since no one washed them first before wearing them. They made abrasive noises when I moved. It was cool out for a Connecticut September with a brisk wind. The sky was steel gray as I embarked on my formal schooling.

    Looking out the school room window I noticed a dog motionless after being struck by a passing car. It was clearly dead. I ignored the brief discomfort in my ears. As I told other classmates of this event no one believed me since they saw the dog moving along safely as though the accident never happened. My experience almost always preceded some kind of mild physical pain.

    Thus began my abstract journey through life.

    How could I understand all these events or even sense I had a spiritual partner? I was distressed by what I saw and wished for the dog’s safety. A supreme force was to be an integral part of me.

    I always garnered some excitement from breaking glass. The helpless sound of disintegration helped to give me some control over my life. While smashing an empty milk bottle (remember those?), the shards literally ripped apart my hand. All the skin was gone. I was a bloody mess. Crying
