John Poindexter
John Poindexter is a retired English teacher who was inspired to write crime novels from his experience as a Special Agent for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. His job description was that of Counterespionage Case Officer and has conducted numerous criminal, narcotic, fraud, and counterespionage investigations. He is a winner in the Filbert Publishing June 2010 Short Story Contest and also a 2010 Peevbody Award winner. His writing career also has dealt with writing articles on investigative techniques for the Pacific Stars and Stripes while working in Japan, and reports of investigation used to prosecute individuals. Mr. Poindexter received a B.S. degree in English from Indiana State University and his investigative training at the AFOSI Academy located in Washington, D.C., the FBI, CIA and various other governmental agencies.

Chapter One
She walked slowly down the street after a long night of work. As Linda turned the corner, she saw the car slowing down behind her. She just knew that she would have to refuse another love-starved maniac.
Hey Baby, want to party?
the guy in the Lincoln yelled.
No, go away,
she replied.
Ah! Come on baby, don't you want to make some good money?
I told you no. Can't you understand a simple word?
Okay whore, go to hell.
His tires burning rubber, as he pulled off.
What a jerk. I knew that was going to happen,
she thought. She closed the outer door of her apartment building and was mentally feeling the hot water in her bath when she heard her name being called.
Linda I'm sorry that it is late, but your rent is due,
Jim said.
This landlord is a pain in the ass,
Linda thought, as she turned around to see him with his hand out. She reached in her purse and felt the gun, but pulled some bills out instead.
Okay, here’s eight hundred. I want a receipt,
