Janet
The first poem is for those who cannot sleep or have difficulty sleeping. I wrote this one night when I could not sleep and went to visit our son watching TV in the living room.
Insomnia
The days are short and the nights are long
My mind races and sleep seems wrong.
I read a chapter of a novel before I retired
I cannot sleep because I’m just not tired.
I toss and turn this way and that,
I get up to find J.W. so we can chat.
He said, I’ll buy a scary movie, Hee, Hee, Hee.
I replied, If you do you will not watch it with me.
He said, I’ll not get out of your chair.
I lay on the couch, since I didn’t care.
We talked for an hour and I went back to bed,
I tried to sleep but couldn’t, so I got up instead.
Now, J.W. left and went to bed in his room,
I just sat in my chair in a state of gloom.
I turned on my laptop and began to write,
Before long, the darkness turned to light.
The night went by and I never slept,
However a poem from within
