While on his lunch break one day in 1937, the editor, Hanford Pierpont, bought a magnificent antique rolltop desk for the princely sum of $36.37. So proud he was to have the ornate desk delivered and set up in his office, that he immediately began to fill the desk with his belongings. He discovered a black leather bound diary hidden inside the desk, and being curious, he sat there reading the diary of a Mr. P.F. Criggley. An hour later, his office secretary found his lifeless body at his antique rolltop desk - his head resting upon the newly discovered diary. And so begins the story of one man’s hellish downward spiral, to depths we can not fathom.
