When duty compels him to avenge the death of his best friend, it becomes his primary obsession. How will this obsession affect his relationship with his new wife? Will it end well for Draco and Julia, or will they be ripped apart by Draco’s desire for vengeance? About 4700 words.

Roger Laird is a first time novel writer. He is a husband and a father to four wonderful children. He has been writing poetry and short stories for many years. The basis of his first novel series stems from his high school writing years,but was mostly worked on in the creative stage over time. He began writing his first novel,Legacy: Beginnings on a regular basis in January of 2011 and just finished writing it in July of 2011. Roger was a Machinist who programmed and setup CNC Lathes and Mills for a living. He had 11 years of experience with machining,but lost his career when the economy crashed in December of 2008. Instead of trying to find work in a suffering field,he decided to return to school to study Psychology. He earned his AA in Social Sciences from College of the Sequoias in Visalia,CA in May of 2011. He is currently attending California State University,Fresno in pursuit of a BA in Psychology. He loves spending time with his family. They enjoy trips to the beach,camping,attending amusement parks,and hiking outdoors. Roger and his wife also enjoy taking artistic photographs for fun. Act I
Narrator: From a city of old, built decades ago, comes this story of valour, love, and pure rage for the deeds of fellow men. The times were harder then, but many managed to find a happy life in this town called Hayden. Our story begins with a young man, Draco, and his childhood friend, Kelvin, in the local marketplace.
Act I Scene I
Enter: Kevin and Draco
Kelvin: How fairs Julia? Have you seen her recently, or has it been as long for you as it has I?
Draco: No. I had the pleasure of dining with her family for supper just last night.
Kelvin: (Mocking) What joy did you find in dining with her family? (Excitement) Is it not so then? Tell me. It must be that you are. And I suppose that
