About the Author
Introduction
Have you met Kendall and Jamie Broderick? If not, let me introduce them to you.
Jamie is the younger of the brother and sister team. She loves animals and babies, and especially animal babies. And of course, she loves solving mysteries.
Jamie will often jump into things. She doesn’t always think through what might happen when she does. She knows her older brother will be there to protect her and help her out.
Sometimes Jamie can get angry very quickly. Adults say that she wears her heart on her sleeve.
That means she will often show her feelings instead of hide them. It is easy to tell when Jamie is happy, sad, angry, or anything else.
Jamie likes playing soccer and is on a team.
Kendall is Jamie’s older brother. He likes playing the older brother role, and often likes to take care of his sister. Sometimes Jamie thinks he is too protective, and she wishes he would let her do more.
Kendall loves learning and is often one of the smartest students in his class. He doesn’t like to show it though, and he sometimes hides how smart he is. He especially likes his science and history classes.
Kendall is the quieter of the two, and often takes time to think about things before acting. Sometimes he thinks too much, which can make Jamie get really angry.
Kendall likes to play baseball. He plays second base and is a pretty good hitter. He also plays American football with friends, but is not on a team.
James and Anna Broderick are Kendall and Jamie’s parents. Mr. Broderick teaches history at the local college. He is also on the Board of Directors for the local historical society. The board helps to run the society. The members of the group try to learn more about local history and share it with others.
Mr. Broderick likes to solve mysteries that are about historical things and people sometimes ask him to help solve their historical cases.
Mrs. Broderick is a scientist. She works for a local company helping them discover new ways to treat illness.
When she is not at work, she is often very active. She likes to take the family camping. She also helps out at the local animal shelter, often taking Jamie with her.
A NOTE
The Brodericks Mystery Series includes two different types of books. The short story books contain seven 15-minute mysteries. Each mystery gives you all the clues you need to solve the case. The answers are given at the end of each story.
The full-length mysteries are a single, long story. With these you can follow Jamie and Kendall on a long adventure from beginning to end.
The Brodericks books are Grow with You
books. They are written on many different reading levels. Early readers can begin reading the series, and enjoy it for many years to come.
Kendall and Jamie’s ages are never given in the stories. This lets the reader imagine them at any age they want. We also do not give a full description of them so that readers can picture them any way they choose.
