Would You Buy Your House Again?
By Mary C. McCoon
Most house hunters want to see the outside of a house before they make an appointment to see the inside. They want to drive through the neighborhood and see if it's an area they feel comfortable with and see how people maintain their homes and yards. Any real estate agent will tell you that location and first impression will sell a house. Now that you have decided to sell, you should ask yourself if your house would rate favorably on a drive-by.

To a prospective buyer, your house represents a tremendous financial investment and probably the largest long term commitment that buyer will make in a lifetime. Cleaning up the outside is the first step toward preparing your home to show.
The following is a standard list of things to check, clean, repair and replace. Remember that you don't want to spend a lot of money in costly repairs or cosmetic remodeling. Your objective is to spruce up the outside areas to make your house and yard inviting to a stranger.
* Here are a few places to check: front entry, roof and gutters, exterior walls and siding, windows and shutters, landscaping, driveway, fencing and enclosures, outbuildings, patio and furniture, garbage cans. What do these things look like? Some may look
