About this ebook
For Camille Dutton, the past few weeks have been transformative in more ways than one. No longer shy and reserved, the still somewhat socially awkward book waitress has found a new purpose in life. JaxSynn, her Ice Demon lover, is now at her side as they prepare for the first of many dangerous hunts. Their prey? Hell-beasts that have crossed through Hell’s portal, wreaking havoc on an unsuspecting island town.
In London, her team of Relic-gatherers, Derek, Arnie, and Mallory, must acquire the first of thirteen religious objects needed to close the Gate to Hell once and for all. Satan has different plans for the fractured team, however, and wastes no time exploiting the fierce weather for his wicked games.
With relationships strained between Derek and Mallory, and a curious metamorphosis arising within JaxSynn, can Camille and the rest of the crew even hope to get the upper hand over evil?

I love this page! It gives me the opportunity to recognize those who have helped me bring this book to you, my patient readers. My family has been amazing throughout the writing of this latest installment of The Book Waitress Series. They endure endless nights of seeing my body sitting on the couch next to them, yet knowing I wasn’t really there. My mind traveled to a dark world while writing this book, and occasionally, I returned to reality to do some laundry, cook some dinner, and chauffeur kids so they could have a social life.
My Book Waitress fans certainly waited a long time for this story to release, and I appreciate their devotion. I’m a devoted fan myself, of Nicole Hicks, my editor. She helps me dig deep to bring the angst, the fear, the love right to your heart.
I must thank my Street Angels, my Sinners and Saints, my author page administrators- Kristina Taylor, Kristina Haecker, Rhonda Conrad-Plumhoff, my beta readers- Melissa Dulany and Caren Davis, and all my blogger/reviewer friends. My village is vast and loving, and I couldn’t do any of this without them.
Finally, I must thank you for your patronage and continued support of The Book Waitress Series. As always, I write for you…
Chapter One
Come back to bed, Slayer. You’ll catch cold out here in that silky robe.
The chilled air coated JaxSynn’s voice and lowered its pitch to a deep, sensual rumble, vibrating every nerve across Camille’s skin into a passionate frenzy. She gasped as his hot breath wafted along the length of her neck, and leaned back to find his body eager for hers. As he slid his hands along her ribcage, they behaved like ice packs, sending cold relief to her bruised bones. Pablo’s parting gift would take a bit to heal. He raised her arms to rest against his shoulders, and she closed her eyes, reveling in the sensations as he nibbled her ear.
Fat chance of that happening. Mmm….
A purr bloomed in her belly and escaped her mouth. You have me hotter than Death Valley in the middle of summer right now, you wicked demon.
Sounds serious. Let me see if I can help.
He spun her around to face him, and she gazed into eyes smoldering with desire. Untying her sash, the robe fell open, and he grabbed her in a chilling embrace, melding his naked, well-chiseled body to hers, meshing their lips together. Despite his efforts, he couldn’t douse the fires that burned deep inside her. She tore her mouth away, confused by the paradoxical event. It seemed both fire and ice coursed through her body.
For an ice demon, you set me ablaze. How can that be?
It’s a gift.
He flashed glowing amber eyes that faded back to their normal brilliance. Come inside and I swear I’ll burn you with more.
He hoisted her up, slid her legs around his hips and stole her back inside. Back to the warmth of the library turned home. He took her straight to the bedroom, where he proceeded to make good on his promise. The world, Satan and his minions, and all of the madness faded into the background with every rapturous stroke of his hand and thrust for release. Beads of sweat collected across her collarbone and brow, mingling with his as their bodies tumbled and crashed repeatedly, until at last they climaxed in a crescendo of cries and groans.
As they laid together, bodies entwined, Camille’s racing heart slowed. Random thoughts, once again, circulated through the forefront of her mind. How long had it been since the last creature from Hell had crossed over? It seemed like a lifetime had gone by since her scars fired their warning. Should she be concerned? Had something changed?
Speaking of change….
she mused aloud.
He nuzzled her hair. Oh, we were? I didn’t realize.
"Yes, we were. I just didn’t tell you about it yet. So, speaking of change, you have."
What do you mean?
His fingers drew lazy patterns across her back, sending icy tendrils down her spine.
Do you realize what you did all night?
She lifted her head off his chest and raised a brow at him.
He peered down at her, his wickedness sparkling in his eyes. I sure do. Sorry about the bed frame, but I gotta tell you, I’m ready to test out the strength of every piece of furniture in this place with you. Does tonight work for you?
Her face flushed, and she giggled like she was in high school again. You fiendish demon, you.
She nudged him. Besides that! Do you know what you did?
Uh, no. What?
You slept. You even snored.
I did what? That’s ridiculous. I’ve never snored in my life.
"JaxSynn, did you hear me? You slept through the night! What does that mean?"
He looked at her as though she’d asked him a question regarding nuclear fusion. I was tired?
She nudged him and scowled. Be serious! You told me demons don’t sleep, and here you are sleeping and snoring away like any other human being. What’s happening to you? Should we be worried?
I don’t know, to be honest. I never stayed this long on this side of the realm, so maybe that’s affecting me. Time will tell.
Hmm. I guess so. You’re still able to chill me to the bones, so that’s good. If that ever faded, I’d be in for a heap of trouble.
She nestled back into his arms, pushing the disturbing thought out of her head. Negativity will only serve as a breeding ground for disaster.
Has another demon crossed over since last night? I don’t remember you needing me to freeze over your scars, and I didn’t feel my mark burning either.
No, nothing’s crossed over in a long while. It has me wondering. What if something’s changing? Maybe no more are coming.
We can hope. They leave quite a mess when they die.
I should get going and start cleaning Pablo out of my house.
About him. I’m so sorry. I was caught off guard, and now that I know Satan’s got it out for me, I won’t be giving any demons a chance to explain themselves. You saved my life last night, and as sorry a life as it is, I’m still grateful. I’d miss you too much in death.
Are you calling my demon lover a loser? ‘Cause if you are, we’re gonna have words, you and I.
She poked at him playfully in his belly, and he flinched. Hey! I didn’t know I was ticklish. Steer clear of the abs with your tickling ma’am, or I’ll have to retaliate.
He grabbed her hands and kissed them. "We have a busy day ahead of us, so I’ll clean up Pablo’s remnants while you go clean yourself up and get ready for the day. We have
