Dedication
We dedicate this book to Christopher Mulapwa who is the director of Elohim Global Ministries in Zambia. Christopher went into the ministry immediately after completing high school. He subsequently graduated with a diploma in theology from a theological college in South Africa. Christopher also serves as pastor of Christian Revival Church which contains a training center for church members who have never been to Bible college.
Christopher’s wife Veronica also is a graduate of a theological college. She directs the youth ministry in their church. Their future vision is to form a theological college, to plant churches in cities and towns in Zambia and to build educational centers for underprivileged children in Zambia. Christopher and Veronica have three children, Marvellous, Zoe and Shalom.
We communicate by email with Christopher several times each month. Christopher and Veronica often use our books in their church. We are so pleased that God has brought us together with these committed Christians in Zambia.

Introduction
How many sermons have you heard on the fear of God? How many books have you read pertaining to the fear of God? Very little has been taught on the fear of God. However, as you go through this book, we believe that you will find that the fear of God is a vitally important topic. We believe that your life will be changed immensely if you learn and obey God’s specific instructions on this subject.
We have chosen the title Reverent Awe of God because we believe that these words are an accurate description of the fear of God. When you fear God, you revere Him for Who He is. You are in absolute awe of Him. We will explain in detail the incredible blessings that God promises to His children who fear Him with reverent awe.
You will see that God promises long life, deliverance from your enemies and supernatural protection to each of His children who fear Him with reverent awe. You will see that God promises to help you, to meet all of your needs and to teach and guide you if you truly fear Him. This short list contains only a few of the blessings that God promises to each of His children who will learn and obey His instructions pertaining to reverent awe for Him.
We believe that this book will contain a great deal of scriptural information that many readers have not considered. We pray that you will approach the scriptural contents of this book with a humble and teachable attitude. God does not want you to make His scriptural teachings ineffective because you think in a traditional worldly manner (see Matthew 15:6). We pray that you will approach this book with an open mind to scriptural instructions that you may not have known previously.
We now use The Amplified Bible almost exclusively in our books. I (Jack) have been using The Amplified Bible since 1975. At that time only The Amplified New Testament was available. I bought this version of the Bible when I saw it in a Christian bookstore because of an inscription from Dr. Billy Graham on the cover. Dr. Graham said, This is the best Study Testament on the market. It is a magnificent translation. I use it constantly.
The Amplified Bible is the result of the study of a group of Bible scholars who spent a total of more than 20,000 hours amplifying the Bible. They believe that traditional word-by-word translation often fails to reveal the shades of meaning that are part of the original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic biblical texts.
Any amplification of the original text uses brackets for words that clarify the meaning and parentheses for words that contain additional phrases included in the original language. Through this amplification the reader will gain a better understanding of what Hebrew and Greek listeners instinctively understood.
We would like to give you a specific example of why we use The Amplified Bible almost exclusively.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
(Philippians 4:13, The King James Version)
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
(Philippians 4:13, The New International Version)
I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].
(Philippians 4:13, The Amplified Bible)
Please note the significant amplification of the original Greek in The Amplified Bible. If you desire to meditate on Philippians 4:13, you will find that there is much more depth of meaning in The Amplified Bible version of this verse. All Scripture references in this book are from The Amplified Bible.
As you read this book, we recommend that you highlight or underline all passages of Scripture that are meaningful to you and our explanation of this Scripture if it is helpful to you. Write notes in the margin or at the top or bottom of the page. If you do, you then will be able to go back through this book after you have read it the first time. You will be able to meditate on the meaningful passages of Scripture that you already have identified (see Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1:2-3).
I (Jack) want to explain why I use the first person on many occasions in our books. I write the first two drafts of each book. Judy then adds her valuable input to the next two drafts. I then write the final two drafts.
I do not want to use the words I (Jack)
every time that I use a first-person reference. I will just use the word I
whenever I make a personal observation during the remainder of this book. Any personal observations from Judy will be clearly identified.
We blend together our explanations of Scripture. We thank God for the high privilege of dividing His Word, each of us bringing different expertise to create a final book for you. Imagine a husband and wife, each with an office at home, working together every day with different viewpoints that God brings together harmoniously. We are very grateful that God has used us in this way for many years.
Every principle that we will explain in this book is solidly anchored on Scripture. We explain each passage of Scripture in simple and easy-to-understand language. We pray that the scriptural contents of this book and our explanation of this Scripture will help you to learn valuable scriptural truth pertaining to reverent awe for God.
Chapter 1
God is Great, Awesome and Majestic
The Bible speaks often of the fear of God. When you fear God, you hold Him in reverent awe at all times. The word reverent
means an attitude of deep respect and
