Introduction
It is a pleasure to use soap which includes natural ingredients such as milk, chocolate, oat, honey, clay and essential oils. Fragrant handmade soaps are a luxury that can be purchased from beautiful cozy little shops. However, very few people realize that such soap can be made by them in their very own kitchen. In this case, you can tailor the ingredients included in the soap to best suit your skin and to have the fragrance you prefer.
Soap creation is a very pleasing and fascinating process; it relieves fatigue after a hard day and fills the room with sweet-smelling herbs, essential oils and spices. This will not only lift your mood, it will be enjoyed by all members of the family.
This hobby comes with many opportunities to experiment on the basic soap recipe. Besides color and form you can adjust the composition of the soap, select fragrance, and include essential oils possessing various therapeutic properties.
Soap manufacture is a very productive type of creativity: in one evening you can make a range of various soaps to give as gifts to all you’re your relatives and friends. Thus you get the opportunity to try different molds and mixes of ingredients. This experimentation, including the occasional errors, practically always results in an interesting soap.
With time, in the search for new ideas, you will begin to pay close attention to the composition of creams, perfumes and shampoos. There you can find an interesting combination of oils and discover additional additives available to you to suit different skin types. You will start to look at the things which surround you (children’s toys, computer mice, shells) as potentially interesting forms for soap casting or decoration details. You will also search for new fillers: petals of flowers, seeds and so on. Sometimes the most unexpected things can be the basis for creating a new product.
Your life will be filled with new sensations - bright intense aromas of fruit; flower, grassy and wood oils; gentle touches of fluffy foam from soap made by you; and the joy of the first successes as well as the emergence of new ideas or recipes. It's amazing how many opportunities hide in a simple piece of soap!
About implements, ingredients and not only…
In the kitchen of any housewife there are all the necessary tools to have a shot at soap making and to create the first masterpiece: saucepans, forks, spoons, oat flakes, coffee and vegetable oil.
For the first experience it is possible to use a piece of baby soap as the base but as you gain confidence a special soap base and various ingredients will considerably expand your creative opportunities. As you learn new techniques and invent recipes, your set of ingredients and range of implements will be completed.
Implements for work
Dishes
It is possible to use your usual kitchen utensils for soap making, provided that you carefully wash them when the work is completed. The impact of the soap will be the same as any other detergent.
Choose rather large containers to mix your ingredients so you can work without the risk of spilling the contents. Enameled or glass bowls, soup plates, salad bowls, glasses and saucepans are the best choice. Dishes should be heat-resistant and easy to wash.
Implements and facilities
A fork or hand mixer is necessary to mix the ingredients.
Spoons of different sizes are used for a myriad of purposes including: adding various ingredients to the melted soap base; putting the mixture into the mold; and relief creating on the hot surface of the soap.
A strainer will be used to filter the hot base before it is poured into a mold, ensuring there are no lumps in the finished soap.
Knives are irreplaceable
