After 43 years of yo-yo dieting, and battling my weight, I not only won the battle... I waged a WAR against my body and I WON!Four years ago, I began a journey... a journey towards a healthier lifestyle. This journey took me on a road towards major life changes. One of the biggest being the loss of nearly 50 pounds! This dramatic weight loss was what prompted me to begin writing this series of healthy ebook recipe books. I wanted to share my journey and success with others so that they may be able to find their way to a new and healthier lifestyle as well.I didn't lose my weight by using diet pills, spending 5 hours a day in the gym, or any of the fad "lose weight quick" plans. I took off the weight slowly by eating healthy. These books (2 so far, and the 3rd in progress and on its way any day now), are full of the recipes I used to not only help me lose the weight, but are recipes I still use everyday to help me now maintain my weight four years later! In my 1st ebook "Into Your Skinny Jeans- Real-Life Recipes to get You Into your Skinny Jeans at ANY Age", you can find the details of my journey in the beginning. I had never shared a lot of the details of my "Life Change" with many people, not even my family. My feelings before, during and after the weight loss, my starting weight, the list of foods I ate, etc. You will also read about the dramatic way my health has improved after the weight loss, not to mention my marriage! My 2nd ebook, "Into Your Skinny jeans, vol.2-More Healthy Recipes to KEEP you in your Skinny Jeans", adds some more recipes that I just could not fit into the first book. I was on a roll, but I had to stop somewhere! The 3rd ebook, "Into Your Skinny Jeans, Vol. 3-Recipes to help You Slow Cook your way into Skinny Jeans", just published in May 2014, is a book of Slow Cooker recipes. Not only will you find healthy recipes for main courses, you will also find recipes for side dishes to go with them, and believe it or not, some desserts for the slow cooker as well!I use my own recipes on a regular basis for my husband and son, daughter and son-in-law, and coming soon...my first grandson! I have passed these recipes down to my daughter and my son's girlfriend. They use them as often as I do. It makes me feel good to know that they are eating healthy with a little help from Mom!I only hope that these recipes will be as helpful to you as well! Enjoy!

    My Journey

Up, down, up, down ... That all too familiar yo-yo ride we’ve all been on so many times finally came to a stop for me at the age of… Wait for it ... 43! Yep, I was middle aged, medically post menopausal (total hysterectomy 7 years prior), had 2 kids in college, and after trying every fad diet plan out there, I put on my first pair of skinny jeans. The best part of it is, I am still wearing skinny jeans at 47! Yeah, just like most women, I had been able to get some or even all of my weight off a few times over the years using the latest fad diet or diet pills. (Believe me, if there’s a diet pill out there I haven’t tried, I challenge you to find it!) But trust me, I always gained all of the weight back, and eventually even more!

My family has a long history of different heart related issues. I unfortunately have inherited a few. My brother passed away at the age of 21 from congestive heart failure related to several issues stemming from birth. My dad passed in October of 2012, after surviving three separate By-pass surgeries during his lifetime. The 2nd surgery, being the most complicated, caused him to be on a ventilator for 55 days. This in turn, caused several irreversible complications, which eventually led to his death in 2012.

I guess, without going into all of the family history and my medical history, the short version of my Life Change as I call it, was due in part by being surrounded by loved ones with ongoing heart conditions. Seeing the never ending struggle they endured, and knowing my own history of high cholesterol, heart palpitations, (which occurred whenever I was overweight), and the heart murmur I developed after taking Phentermine in 1991, made me step back and realize I needed to make some permanent changes regarding my health. Yeah, I lost 60 lbs. in 60 days while taking the Phentermine- that part was incredible- but the 3 leaky heart valves I developed along the way… not so much. And of course, same old, same old… I eventually gained that weight back too. Yet, the leaky valves still remain. The rest of the credit to my Life Change goes to the fact that I’ve always been a person on-the-go. Always doing something. Whether it’s yard work, cleaning the car, house, shopping- work or fun- I was never known for just sitting around wasting time. I was starting to realize however, that my car wasn’t staying quite as clean as it use to, the house and laundry weren’t quite up to par, and I seemed to be staying up on the latest T.V. shows a lot more than ever before. I was becoming a Couch Potato! My energy was gone! I was out of breath when I reached the top of the steps. And Lord knows I was going up those steps because the kitchen was up there! So it became my little ritual after work, to just hang out up there in the kitchen once I got there and watch a few shows I really didn’t care about until the news came on at 6:00. All the while, snacking on WHATEVER I could find in the cabinets. This usually included: chocolate chip cookies, potato chips, and soft drinks; never fruit or vegetables… nothing that required any energy to fix, slice or peel. Well, then it was time for dinner. But all that sugar and carbs from snack time were hitting, so I wasn’t really into cooking. Fast food worked, or a frozen pizza. Then came crash time from those carbs… couch time with more snacks,
