John Osiecki

John Osiecki is a writer with a unique talent for translating internal struggles onto the page, either in script or prose. His stories often feature a main character wrestling with internal demons and even when adventure is front and center, John is always exploring the darkness lurking beneath the character’s surface. His passion for writing deeply flawed characters may come from a place of catharsis, or from John’s keen observation of the world around him and people he connects with. It is hard to say, but he includes these complex characters in all his work, whether comedy, horror, or drama.A risk taker, John is open to challenges and criticism, and he made the decision to test his writing ability by attending Full Sail University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing for Entertainment. John’s passion and dedication as a writer is clear, and he is currently at work on several projects, including a follow up to his short story “Into the Nightmare,” "Into the Madness" and a full-length psychological horror script, tentatively titled “The Lost.”Looking toward the future, John simply wishes to support his family with his writing and dares to dabble in all genres of the written word. When he is not immersed in his writing, John spends his time wrestling with his three wonderful little boys and making the most of their youthful enthusiasm and lack of guile, a far cry from the characters he creates.

    Away With Darkness

Sarah pulled her knees up into her chest and leaned her head against the cold car window. The world outside had grown wearier as they headed further north, but she was enjoying the trip. She reached out and squeezed Brian’s hand, he returned the favor, but didn’t look her way. He was hunched over the wheel straining to see against what appeared to be an oncoming blizzard. Sarah didn’t like the thought, but perhaps they would have to find a motel for the night. She knew it was only a matter of time before Brian came to the same conclusion, so she turned her attention back to the snowfall outside.

As they continued the highway only became increasingly shrouded by the gusting winds and rising snow. Brian knew he couldn’t continue driving like this, so his eyes were now scanning for any road signs that might lead the way to shelter. Unfortunately, the first sign his eyes fell upon was the one flashing in the middle of the road. Luckily, he could see it from a decent distance and was able to slow his approach.

A few feet from the blockade Brian could see two men in orange vests working along the side of the road. He rolled to a stop beside one of the men and quickly slid his window down, Excuse me, he called.

The man turned around and approached the car, using his hands to block his face from the gusting wind. Sir, you’re gonna have to get of the highway now, he said as he pointed to an off
