Today I Evolve - Chris Collins

    A Short Letter to You

    Dear reader,

Thank you for picking this up and deciding to take steps toward evolving with me.

Today I Evolve started as a self-help journal for myself. I wanted something that I could come back to and be reminded of the lessons I learned long ago. I wanted to create something that took very little time to read, but would have an incredible impact throughout my day. What evolved was a series of 52 short articles. You’ll find them in the pages that follow. I hope they help you as much as they help me.

Here is how I suggest you read it:

Read through the whole collection first and allow yourself to take as much as you can from it. Going forward, decide to reflect on how you’ve evolved at the end of each day. Be honest with yourself and your mistakes and promise to keep growing. Then go back and re-read the collection. This time, read one article for every week of the year. Spend that week going back to the words and thinking about that lesson. Maybe read it again before you sleep. Did you make any mistakes that day? How will you be better tomorrow? What are you thankful for that you did right? Move onto a new lesson every week and let it all sink in.

Supplement in whatever way you wish. Maybe you can make your own journal. Maybe meditate after reading each article. It’s up to you. Do whatever feels right and take whatever you can from this short book.

    Thank you,

    Chris Collins

P.S. Throughout this book you will find quotes from ancient philosophers and masters. Their words have inspired me while learning these lessons. I make no claims of ownership over these quotes. I hope they help you as they have helped me.

    Prepare for a journey.

When you woke up today and opened your eyes, you were opening them to a world of endless possibilities. You can begin to transform who you are and become the person you’ve always dreamed of becoming. I believe that many of us lack confidence in who we are. I also believe that many of us visualize a different person in the future than they see before them in the mirror. They look back at their memories and say why? and what if? Is this you? That’s what this book is all about. Your life begins anew every day. It’s up to you to seize the opportunities each new day brings.

Day by day we are born as night retires, no more possessing aught of our former life, estranged from our course of yesterday, and beginning today the life that remains. - Palladas

Are you ready to take a journey? Are you ready to take your truly precious life seriously and start to evolve every day? I’m with you. I want to be bigger today than I was yesterday. I want to be better, more at peace, and happier tomorrow than I can even imagine today. Life can be like that. All you have to do is devote yourself to a life of empowerment and growth. Take the first step of your journey today.

Create an ideal image of yourself.

Imagine a version of yourself that you’d be proud of. Every day you should strive to be more like that person (without sacrificing who you are, of course). Hold this version of yourself clearly in your mind and don’t let go of it. Find some time every day to think about what you’ve done and compare it to this ideal self.

First say to yourself what would you be; and then do what you have to do. - Epictetus

Bottom line is – you get to create this ideal person. Choose how you will evolve. Do you want to be calm under pressure? Do you want to be fun and energetic? Do you want to
