About this ebook
Take one infamous earl
Add a feisty American
And good intentions are bound to fail
Noble Britton, Lord Weston, has come to London intending to revisit old friends, enjoy a modicum of society, and—oh, yes—find a mild, biddable wife. As soon as he meets Gillian Leigh, he knows she'll do quite nicely.
Gillian has a habit of speaking her mind and a shocking susceptibility to accidents. When Gillian meets the infamous Earl, she knows that at last she's found a man who can match her zest for life, even if that entails the occasional arson…or kidnapping. Not to mention the encounters with his former mistresses…
Although life with Gillian involves as much chaos as laughter, Noble fully intends to claim her for his own—if she doesn't accidentally kill him first.
"Delightful and charming! A wonderful romp through Regency England."—Lynsay Sands, bestselling author of The Switch
"Sexy, sassy fun!"—Karen Hawkins, New York Times bestselling author of How to Pursue a Princess
Katie MacAlister
Growing up in a family where a weekly visit to the library was a given, Katie MacAlister spent much of her time with her nose buried in a book. When she was contracted to write a nonfiction book about software, her editor refused to allow her to include witty dialogue or love scenes, so Katie swiftly resolved to switch to fiction, in which she could indulge in world building, tormenting her characters, and falling madly in love with all her heroes. Her novels have been translated into numerous languages, been recorded as audiobooks, received several awards, and are regulars on the New York Times, USA TODAY, and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. She also writes for the young adult audience as Katie Maxwell. Katie lives in the Pacific Northwest. You can visit her website at KatieMacAlister.com.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I laughed and laughed and laughed through this one. Some may not appreciate MacAlister's brand of humour and her tendency to write fluffy light reads but I enjoyed this immensely.
There's a great cast of characters and despite this being a historical romance, Noble's son, 10 year old Nick stole the show. Such an amazing child. And it was Gillian's accepting and loving attitude, her willingness to include him on nearly all of her adventures and her steadfast refusal to be parted from him helped Nick let it all out. I cried when he did. I loved both of them in that moment. Her quirky nature helped her understand her step-son in a way that few others would.
Gillian's a mess though. Her curiosity and over-excited approach to life leads to much trouble. So many accidents. Always her fault. Lots of eye-rolling from me on this but in an affectionate "here we go again" way. She just doesn't understand why she can't speak her mind or do what she wants to do, like check out that pretty blue vase over there. Ooh, I wonder what it feels like. Why is my hand wet? Argh, blue paint. Oops. Is that a handprint on my dress? *facepalm* She doesn't like to pretend. What you see is what you get with her. Her motto should be Carpe Diem because she always lives up to it. And she gets what she wants because of it.
Noble, you poor bastard. Not many men would put up with a wife who cavorts with their enemies and disobeys him at every turn. Who occasionally knocks him unconscious or has tea with his former mistresses (which is not done by the way. It's just not done!). His anger and rages over this frighten the staff into covering for her and providing distractions because they've fallen for her just as he comes to in the end.
Noble was damanged just as his son was by his former wife and Gillian was the perfect cure. She didn't care that he was branded a wife-murderer by society, she didn't believe he was capable of such a thing. She had faith in him. She wasn't prim and proper -the kind of girl he sought but she brought life and happiness to his dark and depressing life. When he thought she was being manipulative and purposely cruel she was in fact desperately trying to help him, fighting to save the future of their marriage, their family's future. Solving the mystery he couldn't (who murdered his last wife) after 5 years of trying. You go girl!
This book would be nothing without the servants. My god, they're good. Tremayne #1, Tremayne #2, Tremayne #3 -Gillian's names for the triplets that worked for Noble, who never stop fighting amongst themselves. They took to her like ducks to water. Crouch, the "pirate" butler with a hook for a hand whose penchant for Cockney rhyming slang was excellent.
Speaking of language, in this it was used to perfect effect. The dialogue in particular. There are long conversations -all dialogue and absolutely no narrative. Sometimes two going on at once between different people, that are crafted in such a way that you could easily follow and always know who was talking without being told. I admire that kind of ability.
And what would the book be without the humour? Wow. Discovering a naked Noble tied to a bed staring up at his achingly beautiful wife trying not to get a hard-on in front of his shocked son while his wife bends over revealing cleavage, looks at his crotch and declares his penis broken (she's never seen it soft). Oh, look it twitched. Maybe it's not broken. ROTFLMAO!
Noble Intentions is my favourite MacAlister book to date. I've only read her Aisling Grey series but this surpasses those. Definitely a future re-read. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Read for Fun /Listened for Review (Tantor /Library)Overall Rating 4.75Story Rating 4.50Character Rating 5.00Audio Rating 4.50Fun Rating: 5 X a billion. Quite frankly it has been awhile since I have read something just downright delectably fun!First Thought when Finished:Nobel Intentions by Katie MacAlister was hands down one of the most unique Historical romances that I have read!Quick Thoughts: This was all about the FUN! Gillian's unfortunate habit. Noble's inability to tame her. All of that plus a great cast of characters made this one of my favorite historical romances. It won't work for some but it certainly worked for me!Audio Thoughts: Narrated By Alison Larkin / Length: 11 hrs and 21 mins Allison nailed it! I really thought she was a perfect match for Nobel Intentions. I am pretty happy with the narration and hope to get the rest on audio.Part of my Read It, Rate It, File It, DONE! Reviews
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Hilarious Regency Romance. Noble decides that when he marries for the 2nd time, he'll marry a sweet, biddable wife. When he meets Gillian and her spontaneity, he throws his plan out and marries her, sure he can turn her into his ideal wife. But American raised Gillian is full of "Unfortunate" thoughts, words and deeds, throwing calamity into everything.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5...talk about laugh!I must admit to the odd chortle of laughter escaping my lips as I read this thoroughly delightful, charmingly disingenuous romp. Ok I was more than occasionally convulsing with laughter, tears streaming down my face at our heroine's actions and commentary. A commentary that sometimes, oops! was said out loud, to the startlement of all, including herself.Nobel Britton, Lord Wessex, known as The Black Earl, (or as Gillian Leigh calls him, The Lord of Lusciousness) is stark raving mad if he thinks the woman whom he claims as his bride, this harem sacrum original, was going to calmly do his bidding.I must admit Gillian's innocent comment about his broken man parts had me rolling in the aisle. Hilarious!Warm impulsive Gillian takes to heart Noble, his son and all his endeavours. She sails through all adversity with nary a second glance, endearing herself to all, including Noble's mistresses.A delightful escapade!A NetGalley ARC
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is the first book in the Noble series. Romance written with smart funny dialog. This was an enjoyable romance that had me laughing at times.
Noble Britton suffered greatly at the hands of his first wife, and he refuses to fall into the same trap again. This time he intends to marry a quiet, biddable woman who will not draw attention to herself or cause scandal. Gillian Leigh’s honest manner and spontaneous laughter attract him immediately. It matters little that she is accident-prone; he can provide the structure necessary to guide her.
But unconventional to the tips of her half-American toes, his new bride turns the tables on him, wreaking havoc on his orderly life. Perpetually one step behind his beguiling spouse, Noble suffers a banged-up head, a black eye, and a broken nose before he realizes Gillian has healed his soul and proven that their union is no heedless tumble, but the swoon of true love. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5OK if you want a story that will have you rolling on the floor with hysterical belly laughs then you need to read this book.....it was like watching a comedy of errors and yet you had to like the characters because they were actually human
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I discovered this book while searching the names of some of my favorite authors to see if they had new books out. What a delight to discover a series done before I had discovered this author. All three of the books were laugh out loud funny! Thank you Katie MacAlister for more books for my "go-to" shelf when I need to brighten my day.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Noble Britton (yes, that's his name) has been deeply scarred by his first wife's betrayal, and locks all emotion behind high walls. Gillian Leigh is honest, forthright, and incredibly loving. When these two acknowledge their instant attraction and marry, Gillian, now Lady Wessex, vows to bring down her new husband's emotional barriers, love her new stepson, and have lots of hot sex. Okay, so she doesn't vow the last bit, but it happens anyway.I loved Katie MacAlister's contemporary romances, but the first time I gave this book a try I had a hard time with it. This time, however, I loved it. I got caught up in the story (a mystery regarding Noble's first wife, Elizabeth, and the circumstances surrounding her death). I laughed out loud throughout the book (which made reading half of it in the library rather difficult). Though the sex scenes aren't as graphic as in her contemporary romances, I understand the difference now - the difference in the attitude of the characters - and I like the book all the better for it.To anyone who has read any of Katie MacAlister's other novels (either under that name, or under her YA pseudonym Katie Maxwell), I say: you will not be disappointed. Heck, I say that to anyone looking at this book! It's got romance, interesting characters, a (murder) mystery, and plenty of humor.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5She's accident prone and he winds up with a myriad of injuries during their courtship. He's most surprised by the fact that while she's always tripping and falling...he's falling too, in love with her!! Heart-warming, funny, and makes you smile...what's not to love?
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Gillian Leigh is half american and was brought up by her very religious Boston aunt and uncle. Now she's in society in London trying to find a husband. The story opens with her starting a fire at a ball, she's a complete klutz who steps on the feet of people she's dancing with. She also has a tendency not to edit what she's thinking and just spurts out wahtever she thinks.Noble Britton's wife is dead and he's the main suspect. He's looking for a wife who would be more biddable than his last wife, but he's attracted by Gillian's honesty. His son has been so traumatised by all that has happened that he doesn't talk.Amusing and slight it's a breakneck story.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This book struck me as so farcical, I laughed aloud.
