About this ebook
The writer was given a Home Computer nearly 30 years ago now as a teenager. It was a games machine but he was intrigued by doing more such as word processing. And 15 years later he bought a PC. And used it to write a novel. But what to do with his computer when he had written the last line of his novel? This is a book about how home PC's became the marketers' dream of being ubiquitous for everyone.
Computers used to be games and educational machines. Then they came with business software repackaged for Home Computer Users, of word processors and spreadsheets. Who needed it really? And if they used it, then how did they cope?
Then the technologists developed digital technology and the whole thing changed. Now you could have photos, video and music on your computer and computers changed out of all recognition and became entertainment and hobbyist machines.
But do you still need them even if you can now watch movies on them? Is there a downside? What are the alternatives, and what do you really need them for?
