Prologue
We have intern openings from time to time and from year to year in the areas of fishing and hunting guides, mechanics and chefs. The following are some intern descriptions of various positions we may have available and policy information. We like personable interns, self-starters, who care about their guests and especially about safety.
This is an awesome wild untamed land and we want our guests to enjoy their adventure but want them to do so in a safe environment.
Interns will be away from family and friends for several months at a time and closely involved with other chefs, guides and mechanics all of whom are in training. It is crucial that all blend together as one unit and it is a priority for everyone to bring a positive attitude and get along with each other and our wonderful guests.
How important is a good attitude? I believe it is the most significant trait an intern can have. If you don’t have a good attitude, you will reap what you sow, not only in Alaska, but for the rest of your life. Read the following from a famous theologian:
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that
