      Mister Dodo's First Adventure - Bryan Michael Stoller

      CHAPTER TWO

      It was the longest limousine Mister Dodo had ever seen. It seemed to stretch across two city blocks. The windows were tinted so no one could see inside.

      It had a television set, some video games, a car phone and even a lemonade dispenser. Mister Dodo sat comfortably in the back, sipping a fresh lemonade from a long twisted straw.

      Driver Bob was at the wheel, steering his way through the winding roads.

      Mister Dodo opened the envelope that he had been carrying. He unfolded the note, which like the address on the outside, was also written in crayon.

      Mister Dodo read the letter quietly to himself: Dear Mister Dodo; My father said that all Dodo's are extinct, that they no longer exist. But he also says that there is one exception -- and that's you! Are you really the last living Dodo bird? And do you really have magical powers? That's why I am writing to you. If you are real, will you come and visit me? You can stay awhile. I hope you can. Love Jenny.

      Driver Bob glanced back at Mister Dodo who had just finished reading the letter again and was thoughtfully slipping it back into the envelope. So where are you from? questioned Driver Bob. From the tropical island of Mauritius, replied Mister Dodo.
