      The Essence

      What is the essence of a thing?

      Essence comes from the Latin word 'essentia' meaning to be.

      So, the Essence of a thing is that which allows a thing to be.

      So then, what IS the essence of a thing?

      Perhaps it is easier to think in terms of what is essential for it's existence.

      (the word 'essence' being the essence of the word 'essential')

      I used the word hypnotic in the title of the book Hypnotic Techniques of Persuasion, vol.1 to suggest the nature of the techniques I will be sharing in successive volumes. These techniques will be Hypnotic in nature. However, many of you may be unfamiliar with hypnosis, and if you happen to be one of those who are familiar with what Hypnosis is, you may not know how it works or how to use it properly.

      Make no mistake, we all use things that could be considered 'Hypnotic' to varying degrees. You may not have known that, but in the strictest since it is
