About this ebook

In a time when women have few options for their futures, bluestocking wallflower Llysa Hamilton has aged out of the marriage mart. With offers for her hand unlikely, she enlists Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service to find the perfect man for one passionate night.

Wolfe Thane, Duke of Foxhaven, has never lacked for anything, but he’s bored with his entitled life. Winning a 1Night Stand voucher in a poker game appears to offer a perfect, commitment-free opportunity to add spice to his sex life.

Hiding behind a mask during her date with the duke offers Llysa anonymity and courage. Wolfe has never met a woman as intriguing and disingenuous.

Can true love be unmasked in just one night or will it be destined to stay on the shelf?

Lady Llysa Hamilton is firmly on the shelf. She is too Rubenesque for the taste of the men of the Ton despite being eligible in other ways. She decides that she doesn't want to die a virgin and uses a service to procure an anonymous man to deflower her.Wolf Thane, Duke of Foxhaven, wins the voucher for the night in a card game and the two meet although Llysa wears a mask throughout the affair so that he can't recognize her again. This was a good steamy Regency short story. The couple seemed to fall in love a bit too fast for my tastes, but it's a quick read and well worth it.

Llysa does not want to die a virgin so she goes to Madame Evangeline for a 1-Night Stand. Wolfe is bored and when he wins a 1-Night Stand in a poker game, he contacts Madame Eve for his night. She matches them.I enjoyed these characters. Llysa is mysterious. Wolfe is curious. Both receive a night that leaves them wanting more. I liked that Wolfe respected Llysa privacy which led her to trust him. I also liked that their conversation revealed their internal selves which put to rest (well, at least on Wolfe's part) the public reputation. I enjoy the 1-Night Stand series. It works well with Victorian times as well.

~Dedication~

Special Thanks to my Lovely editors Val and Kate who believe in me more than I do. And without them my books would be nowhere.

To the Stephanie Laurens Yahoo Group who for years has supported me, pulled out the large wooden spoon to stir things up, and shared my love of historical romance, I would list you all personally but this Captain is terrified of forgetting even one of you amazing ladies. Besides you know who you are :)

To Tracy, Tina, Teresa (the three T's), to Dawn, Tam, Emmeline, Patty, and Dwayne you are the best friends any one could ask for.

And to Nadine who is the best beta reader and friend an author could have. I thank you for always being there for me.

Chapter One

So you are really going through with it?

Lady Elizabeth Hamilton looked at her lady’s maid in the mirror as if she had lost her marbles. Anna, you told me I should do this.

"Now, told might be a bit strong, my lady. I need to be convinced that you have your heart and head set. Because once you do this, there is no going back."

Setting her brush on the dressing table, Elizabeth gave her companion a confident smile, though, to be honest, it was false. Where is there to go back to? I am not likely to get a proposal this season, any more than I have the seven seasons before. I am helplessly on the shelf. It’s not all bad. I get to be myself now. My aunt seems unconcerned that I might live out my life with her in this house.
