About this ebook

Nancy Thompson lives with an overprotective police officer father, her parents divorced and her mother barely present. She's also been having way too vivid nightmares about a "boogeyman" with claws in a fiery boiler room. After having a dream where her mother is killed, Nancy learns the following morning that her mother has in fact died in her sleep. Soon, Nancy realizes that her boogeyman is all too real. Abstaining from sleep, she tries to find the answer to what or who the man of her nightmares is and how to put an end to it. A re-imagining of Wes Craven's "Nightmare On Elm Street".

Oh this book was awful. It's as far as I can tell a completely un-authorized book adaptation (the author calls it a reimagining but it's not different enough for that) of Nightmare on Elm Street. It's badly written with multiple logical inconsistancies (at the beginning, for instance, Nancy eats a slice of Hawaiian pizza and then a couple of chapters later she's talking about how she's a long standing vegetarian) and poor characterization. The main differences from the film are the removal of all her friends and her boyfriend, the killing off of her mother and making Freddy someone her mother was having an affair with who went on to abuse Nancy as a child and be killed by her dad.

The scary dreams would be better than the rest of the book if it weren't for the fact that Nancy never realizes she's dreaming DESPITE THIS HAPPENING OVER AND OVER. Also way too much detail went into describing how rapey Freddy suddenly was which no ew.

So trigger warnings abound with this one.
